Purpose and Impact:

This position is contingent upon award of contract, business needs, security clearance verification, and funding availability.  We are seeking a Mid-Level Data Engineer to support various locations. The ideal candidate will need to do the following. Designs, implements, and maintains robust data pipeline architectures to support complex intelligence operations. This position is responsible for developing scalable data infrastructure using industry-standard practices for data integration and storage to enable efficient intelligence analysis and decision-making. The Data Engineer implements extract, transform, load (ETL) processes and real-time data processing solutions that facilitate the ingestion, transformation, and integration of diverse intelligence sources. This role requires expertise in creating and optimizing data models and schemas to support efficient querying and analysis by intelligence personnel while ensuring compliance with IC security standards and data governance requirements.

Work Schedule: Standard 40-hour work week between 0600 and 1800, Monday through Friday. Ability to work shift work if necessary.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement scalable data architectures to support intelligence operations, ensuring systems can handle growing volumes of data
  • Develop automated processes for data ingestion, transformation, and integration from multiple sources, including conditioning of non-standard datasets
  • Build efficient data storage solutions optimized for intelligence functions using appropriate SQL and NoSQL technologies
  • Create and maintain data pipelines for both batch and real-time processing to ensure timely availability of critical intelligence data
  • Implement data quality controls and monitoring systems that ensure integrity and reliability of information
  • Optimize query performance and data access patterns to support rapid retrieval of intelligence data by analysts
  • Implement data governance practices and quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with IC standards
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive data documentation and lineage information to support data provenance requirements
  • Create robust security measures to protect sensitive data in accordance with classification guidelines
  • Collaborate with intelligence analysts to understand complex data requirements and develop appropriate technical solutions
  • Actively participate in JIOC intelligence planning conferences and exercises, 12 working groups, intelligence system capability development meetings, Joint and national-level intelligence coordination boards, and technical exchange meetings with mission partners

Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • Proficiency in programming languages essential for data engineering, particularly Python (or R)
  • Experience with database technologies including both SQL and NoSQL systems
  • Knowledge of ETL tools and data pipeline frameworks
  • Demonstrated experience with cloud-based data platforms and services
  • Understanding of data governance principles and information security practices
  • Experience designing and implementing data pipelines for batch and real-time processing
  • Demonstrated ability to optimize database performance and query efficiency
  • Experience integrating data from multiple sources and in various formats
  • Familiarity with intelligence data types and collection methodologies

Security Clearance Required:

  • TS/SCI. Ability to take a poly if requested

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or related technical field

Minimum Years of Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in data engineering, database administration, or similar roles.
