The Director, Capture Management is a pivotal leader within Amentum’s growth organization, responsible for leading the pursuit and capture of high-priority opportunities. This role focuses on developing and executing comprehensive capture strategies, ensuring alignment with Business Development efforts, and working collaboratively across functional teams to drive successful outcomes. Demonstrated subject matter expertise is preferred in representative markets such as complex engineering, aviation, mission support, modernization, vehicles and equipment sustainment. RDT&E, test and training ranges, expeditionary and diplomacy logistics, and supply chain solutions. The Director is a subject matter expert and hands-on leader in capture execution who directly engages with cross-functional teams to deliver winning strategies, compliant proposals, and innovative solutions. This position does not have significant direct management responsibilities but operates as a collaborative leader and senior contributor to the success of the capture function.
Principal Accountabilities
Capture Leadership:
Drive capture efforts for mid- to large-scale federal and defense opportunities, ensuring alignment with Amentum’s strategic priorities.
Develop and execute tailored capture strategies that address customer needs, competitive considerations, and key evaluation criteria.
Lead the capture process from opportunity qualification through proposal submission, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.
Collaboration with Business Development:
Partner with Business Development to ensure that once opportunities are qualified, they transition seamlessly into the capture process.
Collaborate with Business Development and operational teams to refine customer understanding, gather competitive intelligence, and shape value propositions.
Ensure cohesion and alignment between opportunity capture execution and broader Business Development strategies.
Proposal and Opportunity Execution:
Oversee the development of compelling proposals by working closely with proposal teams, technical writers, and pricing specialists.
Leverage AI tools and technologies to enhance competitive analyses, compliance tracking, and overall proposal quality.
Participate in strategic reviews (e.g., color team reviews) to refine proposals and other capture-related deliverables.
Customer Engagement:
Engage directly with current and potential customers to fully understand mission requirements and highlight Amentum’s value proposition.
Maintain focus on customer priorities throughout the capture lifecycle.
Subject Matter Expertise:
Act as a thought leader on capture management processes and federal acquisition frameworks, including FAR/DFARS compliance.
Provide guidance on the adoption and use of AI-enabled tools and innovative techniques to improve organizational capture processes and outcomes.
Support the organization’s efforts to continuously improve capture methodologies and processes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong understanding of capture management processes, including opportunity qualification, competitive positioning, technical solutioning, and proposal compliance.
Working knowledge of U.S. federal and Department of Defense (DoD) acquisition frameworks and procurement practices.
Experience applying AI tools and methodologies for competitive analysis, compliance tracking, and decision-making during the capture lifecycle.
Proven ability to engage with cross-functional teams across technical, operational, and pricing domains to execute capture efforts.
Demonstrated business acumen to effectively drive solution-based pricing strategies
Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and align diverse stakeholders.
Analytical skills to assess competitive landscapes, economic considerations, and customer needs, translating them into actionable capture strategies.
Required Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field is required.
Advanced certifications in capture or business development, such as APMP certification or DAWIA Level II/III, are preferred.
Experience:
A minimum of 15 years of experience in capture management, proposal development, or business development, with a focus on federal and defense opportunities.
Demonstrated track record of securing mid- to large-scale federal contracts.
Hands-on experience collaborating with business development and functional teams to develop winning strategies.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
Works primarily in a standard office environment. Extended hours may be required during critical deadlines (e.g., proposal submission periods).
Normal office environment with frequent deadlines that may require extended hours, including evenings and weekends.
While the team primarily works from home, there will be times when you’ll need to attend in-person meetings, trainings, or events. There’s also a possibility of transitioning to regular in-office days in the future, depending on company needs.
Domestic and international travel may be required to facilitate capture efforts, customer meetings, and organizational initiatives.
Ability to manage competing deadlines, produce high-quality work under pressure, and prioritize needs across multiple large-scale pursuits.
Compensation Details:
190,000.00
