 Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager. The Environment, Health & Safety Lead plans, implements, and coordinates safety and environmental programs in accordance with written regulations, procedures, and policies, in direct support of the Quality Manager.    

Accountability

  • Under minimal supervision, manages, develops, and implements EH&S programs.
  • Identify safety and environmental hazards, risks, and promote the reduction or elimination of potentially hazardous conditions that may lead to accidents, occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths, and safety-related financial losses.
  • Coordinate all safety-related activities within the requirements of the safety program with respect to mission requirements and the U.S. Government directives to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Report and investigate aircraft, ground safety, and environmental accidents to determine the cause of the accident and formulate recommendations to help prevent similar mishaps in the future.
  • Provide written reports which are clear, concise, and meaningful for all ground/aviation safety and environmental matters.
  • Provide technical support in all types of Safety/Environmental issues such as data gathering, training, and correspondence.
  • Develop required reports, conduct briefings, safety training, and when directed conduct quarterly safety stand-down meetings.
  • Assist in maintaining accident and incident records, files, and reports. Requires data entry and corrections to files on an as needed basis.
  • Conduct safety audits, fire extinguish inspections, and inspections of all first aid kits and other safety related equipment.
  • Process Occupational Hazard Reports including investigating the hazard and ensuring mitigations are in place.
  • When needed coordinate first responder duties during an onsite accident.
  • Respiratory Protection Program Manager.  Conducts initial and annual respiratory protection training and fit testing.
  • Chairs the Safety / HMC&M Meeting and prepares meeting minutes for required distribution.
  • Conducts Safety Audits and Inspections and acts as point of contact for Work Center Safety Representatives and Supervisors.
  • Conduct Safety Orientation training.  Coordinates annual regulatory safety training and audiometric testing with the Work Center Supervisors and maintains the Safety Training Data Base.
  • Coordinates facilities issues with Public Works and government oversight.  This includes submission and monitoring of trouble calls and work requests, and interface with Public Works employees.
  • Prepare appropriate documentation for the monthly Safety Committee Meeting.
  • Performs Hazard Risk Analysis and Job Hazard Assessments, and coordinates PPE training and certification with the Work Center Supervisors.
  • Process, screen, and file completed safety training and communications documentation.
  • Prepares computer generated correspondence and reports.
  • Interacts with military and company/site personnel to promote teamwork and cooperation.
  • Make recommendations to management to improve productivity, increase efficiency and/or cut costs.
  • Maintains Liaison with the Base Fire Department, coordinates fire/evacuation drills and monitors the periodic inspection of facility fire extinguishers.
  • Perform other qualified duties as assigned.
  • Aid the Quality Manager, as required.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED, required.
  • A.S. degree in occupational health and safety (preferred).
  • Safety Trained Supervisor Certified (preferred).
  • Five (5) years of minimum experience of safety and environmental, required.  
  • Must have valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain any company/government required qualification, certification, licensing, or security clearance.
  • Must be able to work any assigned shift or schedule.
  • Strong leadership, presentation, analytical, and communication skills.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb, bend, stoop, squat, crawl, crouch, kneel, lift, carry, balance and reach above shoulder level, push or pull up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Normal hearing, required.
  • Services are performed in varied locations around NASCC site.
  • Exposure to noise hazard.
  • Handle required/approved hazardous material(s) as per safety data sheets (SDS).
  • Protective clothing and other safety equipment, required.

Travel

  • May have to travel.

Compensation Details:

$85000.00
