Amentum is seeking a Facilities Maintenance/Operations Manager for our client site in the Greater St. Louis area.
The successful candidate will have outstanding operations and maintenance skills and will be committed to working with others to deliver best in class, unparalleled excellence in customer service and satisfaction.
You will direct a workforce of technicians and reliability professionals engaged in a variety of activities in the management of a pharmaceutical facility and ensure KPI’s are realized while maintaining client relations that will enhance future business. You will act as a back-up to the Facility Program Manager.
As the Facilities Maintenance/Operations Manager, you will manage safety and compliance, operations, personnel, and cost.
You will be responsible for daily support activities, including:
- Management of site safety programs, including lock out/tag out procedures, hot work procedures, and other applicable safety policies.
- Maintaining appropriate Job Hazard Analysis for all work and developing JHAs as appropriate for new or altered work.
- Providing support to building operations and maintenance teams through developing solutions to sustain low operating costs.
- Performing evaluations and training teams to identify and eliminate waste, reduce operating/ maintenance costs, and reduce system failures.
- Maintaining 24x7 operations of all critical building support systems (HVAC/Mechanical/Plumbing/Electrical/Lab support/etc.).
- Oversee maintenance planning, scheduling, work order management, and resource allocation through familiarity with client and Amentum procurement systems.
- Develop detailed project proposals through comprehensive scope definition, cost estimating, and time-and-materials analysis, while providing end-to-end project management to ensure successful execution, on-time delivery, and customer satisfaction.
- Manage multiple subcontractors supporting facility operations and maintenance activities, including contractor onboarding, site access coordination, and on-site performance while ensuring full compliance with Amentum and client safety, security, and operational requirements.
- Diagnosing equipment issues and leading the team to successful repair of equipment.
- Administering the Reliability Based Maintenance program that includes preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance activities.
- Understanding the critical nature of the client’s work environment including the particulars of a research facility.
- Keeping positive relations and a client partnering mentality.
- Projecting continuous improvement, setting goals/objectives, meeting the schedule, and Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).
- Demonstrating consistent, effective and efficient written and oral communication skills (client, employees, suppliers, subcontractors, management, etc).
- Maintaining consistent communication with management on key issues, potential client issues, and approach to resolutions.
- Performing all other duties as required.
As the Facilities Maintenance/Operations Manager, you will be expected to:
- Provide leadership to the operation and ensure an accident-free workplace.
- Establish performance expectations and conduct performance evaluations.
- Recruit, train, mentor, and develop maintenance team members.
- Provide coaching to improve technical competency, safety awareness, and professional development.
- Maintain standards for data entry in the Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Design, implement, and improve facility and maintenance performance KPIs.
- Utilize data analytics to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for operational improvement.
- Develop dashboards and reporting systems that measure:
- Work order backlog size and completion rates
- Schedule adherence
- Work order status changes
- PM: Corrective ratio
- Among others

Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent trade school credentials.
- 8+ years of facility operations and maintenance experience including 5 years of facility operations and maintenance supervisory experience in a technical field.
- Technical knowledge of industrial electrical and mechanical systems with the ability to prioritize, assign, track, and trend equipment history.
- Demonstrated understanding of developing, managing, and improving KPI's.
- Staff management experience, including disciplinary action, hiring, terminating, and performance appraisals.
- Ability to obtain an appropriate driver's license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles, as requested.
- Must be a United States citizen or permanent resident.
- This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.
Some physical requirements include:
- Ability to read and understand information contained in a variety of documents or displayed on a computer screen.
- Ability to use a variety of office equipment and to operate a computer keyboard to access data bases, to send/receive messages and to prepare documents.
- Ability to travel to other Amentum, customer and/or vendor locations in the area, as well as the possibility of some air travel to more distant locations (Travel not expected, 100% on-site role).
- Ability to walk extensively throughout diverse work environments as required by business demand.
- Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
- Work at an accelerated pace in emergency conditions.
- Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.
Client Site Requirement:
- Ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.
- Ability to demonstrate understanding of training materials provided in regular computer-based training (CBT’s).
- Adherence to all site procedures and documentation requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a GMP or similar regulated environment.
- Experience utilizing a CMMS (computerized maintenance management system) and Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Outlook, Word, Power Point, and Visio.
- Predictive maintenance experience, including areas such as IR scanning, ultrasonic, vibration and oil analysis; testing, life cycle studies, incident reports, root cause analysis and/or additional data gathering programs.
Compensation Details:
$91,000 - $110,000
