Amentum is seeking a Senior Facilities Engineer to join our team of passionate individuals at Fort Meade, MD. In this role you will support challenging, mission-critical projects that make a direct impact on the Nation’s security and intelligence mission.
In support of DISA, Amentum’s Intel and Cyber Division is expanding a proven team of highly skilled engineers and architects to support a program that provides critical IT capabilities to the Department of Defense. This team is committed to engineering, assembling, integrating, deploying, and sustaining an innovative IT enterprise solution.

Work Schedule: 8 Hours per day, Monday thru Friday
Essential Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Facility Engineer include but are not limited to the following:
- Ensure operational availability and reliability of critical systems and infrastructure. Manage the day-to-day O&M activities at our strategic partner-managed sites.
- Plan, design and oversee the installation, configuration, maintenance, and alteration of communications/datacenter equipment, structures, and other facilities.
- Conduct site surveys to determine requirements feasibility of government facilities for hosting enterprise IT solutions.
- Gather and review data concerning facility or equipment specifications, government installation codes, and construction timelines and schedules.
- Coordinate with architects and engineers to develop design criteria, produce bills of material (BOMs), and prepare layout and detail drawings.
- Review and estimate design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation, and other related costs.
- Perform, direct, or inspect the installation of IT equipment and infrastructure to ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules.
- Participate in and/or lead site activities including installations, deployments, configuration for high availability, compliancy, and incident response.
- Ensure compliance with Government installation guidelines, codes, instructions, and local site tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM), fault isolation, root cause analysis, and repair of facility and rack-level events within established Service Level Agreements (SLA)s.
- Work with Project Managers, Site Managers, and Cross-Functional Team Leads to complete site deployments and authorized service interruptions (ASIs).
- Prepare and update detailed drawings to include initial and As-built: Flow Diagrams, Cut-Sheets, Rack Elevations, Structural, Electrical/Power, and HVAC.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
- Employee will work in a SCIF on a daily basis.
- Employee may also be required to work in a datacenter environment for specified periods of time.
Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
- Ten (10) years deploying large IT projects in communication facilities and data centers.
- Seven (7) years of communication facilities and data center operations (hardware, IT infrastructure, & critical facilities).
- Five (5) years installing and maintaining IP networks (e.g., Cisco, Juniper), Servers/Systems (e.g., Windows, Linux, VMware, cloud), and/or Unified Capabilities (e.g., Cisco UC, MS Teams, VoIP, video conferencing)
- Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and methods of facilities design and construction.
- Experience and in-depth technical knowledge of server, network, and rack-level infrastructure to independently verify vendor claims and audit quality.
- Design experience in architecture or an engineering discipline including facilities renovations, additions or infrastructure
- Skilled at generating and revising technical design documentation using Visio or other CAD type programs
- Experience with ICD-705 SCIF construction
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office products
- Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate and oversee multi-discipline facilities projects
- Proven project management skills and strong organizational and time management skills including the ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Can support non-standard hours, including an on-call rotation and availability during deployment surges and maintenance windows.
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
Security Clearance Required:
- Must have active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
Minimum Education:
- Associate’s Degree in IT or equivalent, technical certification (below), or professional or military experience in a related field.
Minimum Years of Experience:
- Ten (10) years deploying large IT projects in Communications and Data Centers.
- Seven (7) years in Communications and Data Centers operations (hardware, IT infrastructure, & critical facilities).
- Five (5) years installing and maintaining IP networks (e.g., Cisco, Juniper), Servers/Systems (e.g., Windows, Linux, VMware, cloud), and/or Unified Capabilities (e.g., Cisco UC, MS Teams, VoIP, video conferencing)
Required Certification: (One of the following)
- Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) Data Center
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Data Center
- Certified Data Center Management Professional (CDCMP)
- Certified Data Center Facilities Operations Manager (CDFOM)
- Certified Data Center Design Professional (CDCDP)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification
- Project Management Professional (PMP)

Compensation Details:
$150,000 - $195,000
