Amentum is seeking a Fire Chief to join our team on Andros Island, Bahamas to support the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) mission. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Installation Fire Chief (IFC), responsible for overall management and supervision of the fire protection, fire prevention, rescue, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) programs. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance. Note: U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.
Essential Responsibilities:
Leads all aspects of administration, planning & execution of a comprehensive fire prevention, firefighting, & rescue program.
Develops goals and objectives and exercises overall responsibility for management and control of fire operations, emergency medical services (EMS), fire prevention, training, and emergency control center (ECC) programs.
Establishes, revises and reviews plans, policies, strategy, tactics, and procedures for fire suppression and prevention to ensure compliance with Company policies, national consensus standards, National Fire Codes, uniform building codes, Code of Federal Regulations, Occupational Safety and Health Administration policies and procedures, and environmental laws and regulations as they apply to fire protection.
Exercises sound business acumen in the management of all aspects of the contract. Manges metric & analysis systems for specific programs to assess & upwardly report performance efficiency, mission effectiveness, and compliance.
Meets with key customers and coordinating officials to assess customer satisfaction, explain organizational policy and procedures, and resolve significant problems that arise.
Plans for work accomplishment and establishes priorities to accomplish work set forth in the Performance Work Statement and Department/Company policies and procedures.
Evaluates the effectiveness of all Company and FES directed programs, develops and executes changes to standards of performance, operations, & equipment as necessary.
Makes personnel-related decisions, determines personnel requirements and approves or selects candidates for supervisory and non-supervisory positions, taking into consideration skills, qualifications, mission requirements, & EEO program objectives.
Manages employee expectations, appraises performance, provides regular feedback, and oversees employee’s professional development per Company program guidelines.
Initiates action to correct conduct and performance issues of all employees and processes disciplinary actions in accordance with Company policy and procedures.
Manages all aspects of financial preparation, execution, approvals, business development and resource accountability according to Company and Customer rules.
Serves as Incident Commander or at the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) for all types of emergency responses as required.
Assesses risks and determines the best course of action to prevent loss of life, injury or damage to property.
Ensures rescue operations are performed in accordance with established policies and procedures to minimize the risk of additional danger to firefighting personnel and endangered persons.
Manages all aspects of the Company Environmental, Safety and Health (ESH) program.
It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (personal protective equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
Perform other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Requirements:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience as a full-time firefighter with a paid, professional firefighting force.
Requires 10 years of demonstrated leadership as a Fire Officer with visible progression resulting in middle to high level leader/manager experience.
Must possess the following DoD certifications which are required by AFI 32-2001, Fire and Emergency Services Program and DoDI 6055.06M, Fire and Emergency Services Certification Program: Fire Officer IV, Fire Instructor II and Fire Inspector II, HAZMAT Incident Commander, Marine and Airport Fire Fighter.
Current National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification (NREMT).
Must have demonstrated skills in the administration and planning of comprehensive fire protection programs and budget development and management.
Must have knowledge of the theory, principles, methods, techniques and practices of structural and airfield firefighting, hazardous materials, emergency medical services, and operation of fire fighting vehicles.
Must have knowledge, skills and ability in the areas of fire prevention inspections, fire protection engineering, fire investigation, and the fire safety deficiency program.
Must have demonstrated ability to implement firefighting/emergency response plans and manage and direct fire suppression personnel under stressful and dangerous conditions in fire ground and Emergency Operations Center environments.
Must have demonstrated ability to plan, organize, direct functions, and to mentor, motivate, appraise, and supervise the members or staff of an organization.
Must have no physical defects or grooming habits which would impede ability to wear protective clothing and equipment and perform strenuous tasks under adverse conditions.
Must be able to attend and successfully complete on- and off-site training courses and any additional duty position qualifications as required.
Work will most often be done in an office environment. Basic physical requirements include walking, bending, stooping, stretching, climbing, running, crawling, dragging, carrying, and lifting up to 100 pounds.
This position requires possible exposure to products of fire to include heat, smoke, toxic fumes, and gasses. Exposure will also include extreme environmental elements such as heat, cold, rain, snow, wind, sun, etc.
Must be able to perform assigned duties while wearing a self-contained-breathing-apparatus (SCBA), with minimal loss of effectiveness and efficiency.
Must be able to navigate tight turns, stairs, and enclosed spaces while wearing firefighting personal protective equipment to include SCBA.
Must be able to reside in remote work location with limited medical facilities.
Valid driver’s license and passport will be required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance. Note: U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.
Compensation Details:
$120,000 - $130,000
