Amentum is currently seeking a FORACS Electronics Engineer - Testing in West Palm Beach, FL to support the NATO FORACS project. The NATO FORACS project's Mission is to provide NATO maritime forces with the opportunity to undergo comprehensive calibration of sensor, weapon, combat, communication, and navigation systems to clearly defined accuracy and performance standards. The project operates under the umbrella of the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC). AUTEC supports Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E), and Fleet readiness assessment and training. AUTEC is a Major Range and Test Facility Base (MRTFB) and the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport's largest single team project, providing both deep and shallow water test and training environments. 
 

The FORACS Electronics Engineer - Testing is responsible for supporting sensor accuracy testing on US and NATO surface ships, submarines, and helicopters for the AUTEC Project. 

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance. Note: U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Essential Responsibilities: 

  • Support testing of installed sensor on surface ships, submarines, and helicopters.

  • Perform in a Team environment, including military, DoD civilians and DoD contractors to achieve testing requirements. 

  • Installs, configures, and operates specialized data collection and analysis computer network to support real time data collection.

  • Install, verify, and operate specialized test equipment to support testing. 

  • Monitor the set-up and operation of shipboard sensor systems to ensure collected data accurately reflects sensor performance. 

  • Supervises the operation of acoustic, radar, and electronic warfare target generating systems in a real-time test environment.

  • Monitor the quantity, quality and relevance of data collected in a real-time test environment, ensuring compliance with data collection standards.

  • Perform data analysis, assess sensor performance against established parameters, and produce technical reports in a timely manner to designated recipients in a multi-national organization.

  • Liaison with naval personnel (officers and enlisted) to achieve goals of the designated test. 

  • Conduct special studies and prepare technical report regarding testing methodologies and process improvements.

  • Participates in the development of specifications for the procurement of new equipment/systems to support testing requirements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Four (4) years of experience supporting Research, Development, Testing and Evaluation, or similar programs.

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering, technology or science field; 8 years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Applicant must be able to lift and carry material up to 50 lbs.

  • Applicant must be able to climb stairs and ladders, work at height, and in tight spaces.

  • Applicant must be able to deploy to sea on navy ships and submarines and operate equipment from range support working craft.

  • Applicant may be required to travel to locations away from headquarters 15% - 25% of year, depending on testing schedule.

  • Applicant must be able to deploy to locations with limited medical facilities for short duration.

  • Applicant must hold a driver’s license

  • Applicant must have a passport or obtain a passport.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance. Note: U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of U.S. Navy target sensor systems (radar, sonar, fire control, navigation, etc.), GNSS, and INS preferred.

  • Knowledge of acoustics theory, RF propagation theory, GPS tracking systems, Inertial Navigation Systems or computer networking preferred.

  • Familiarity with naval shipboard operations, terminology, customs, traditions, and protocol preferred.

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel preferred.

  • Active Secret clearance preferred.
