The Furniture Planner provides a broad array of support services, specifically in the support of furniture planning functions. Provide assessment, recommendations, and procurement for various office furnishings while working directly with various clients. Implement detailed furniture standards and guidelines as well as manage furniture inventory. The incumbent will perform other assignments and duties as required.
Essential Duties
- Support the furniture planning functions of the Logistics Move Operations area in accordance with the Statement of Work.
- Provide assessment, recommendations, and procurement of various office furnishings.
- Coordinate moves with the customer and various organizations across the Center.
- Provide guidance to Logistics Movers regarding furniture moves, employee relocations, and event set ups.
- Comply with all company Policies, Procedures, and Directives in the performance of duties under the Contract.
- Comply with the requirements of the company Safety Plan.
- Comply with the requirements of the company Quality Plan.
- Comply with the requirements of the company Organizational Conflict of Interest (OCI) Avoidance Plan.
- Comply with the requirements of GLPR 1571.1, Standard for Office Furniture and Furnishings.
- Follow the requirements of the company Procurement Manual.
- Comply with the requirements of the NASA GRC Safety Manual.
- Comply with the requirements of the NASA GRC Environmental Management System.
- Participate in the Logistics Safety Review Board, as required.
- Align resources with customer demands to ensure requests are completed according to schedule.
- Meet all applicable performance standard requirements.
- Aggressively support organizational development by participating in process improvement by analyzing and improving existing business processes.
- Communicate all work activities and issues to the Logistics Manager.
- Participate in meetings with GRC customers concerning the movement of personnel, layouts, and furniture.
- Exercise problem solving techniques or develop improved methods to solve complex problems, which may involve many judgmental decisions based on analysis and evaluation of a situation or activities.
- Develop a physical movement sequence of personnel and office assignment relocations. Schedule and coordinate the date of all moves and ensure all resources are available.
- Identify and analyze the customer’s furniture needs and space requirements to develop a plan. Coordinate with design consultants and other specialists to formulate preliminary design concepts that are appropriate and functional to the customer.
- Serve on Center move teams regarding moves implemented by the Space Management Office.
- Coordinate moves with both in-house and off-site movers. Monitors the outside mover’s performance based on criteria set forth in the contract or purchase order.
- Plan and coordinate the physical setup and take down for various special events throughout the Center (i.e. conferences, meetings, etc.).
- Provide interior design assistance to the customer and various levels of management.
- Coordinate the installation of new furniture and removal of old furniture.
- Implement detailed furniture standards and guidelines, which will help the Center to meet the furniture program objectives and best utilize assigned office space.
- Ensure unused furniture is returned to the warehouse for redistribution.
- Determine if furniture should be reutilized, disposed, or scrapped.
- Maintain an inventory of office furniture in the warehouse for reutilization.
- Maintain a database for work requests.

Experience Requirements
- Two years of project management experience necessary.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION
A. Physical Requirements
Visual and physical contact of hardware and systems. Multiple workstation assignments (office, test facility, control room, laboratory, shops, etc.). Transportation of notebooks, drawings, forms, etc. required. Ability to hear normal conversation. One eye (minimum) correctable to 20/20. Ability to distinguish eight colors on basic panel displays.
B. Work Environment
Work is accomplished in an office, shop, control room, and in and around test facility buildings. Must be able to use respiratory protection in confined spaces. High noise levels may be encountered in some work areas.
C. Equipment and Machines Involved In Work Task
Office and facility equipment includes computers, calculators, electronic instruments, mechanical instruments, and miscellaneous precision measuring devices.
D. Criticality of Attendance
Work assignments are usually during normal work hours, but overtime is frequently necessary to support meetings, test schedules, and test operations. Testing may occur any day or time of day, depending on the schedule and test requirements, and may require working off shifts. Regular daily attendance is required to maintain team effectiveness.
Compensation Details:
$65,000 - $67,200
