Amentum is looking for a General Maintenance Technician (Electrical) to join our #pecan team!

Essential Responsibilities:

The General Maintenance Technician (Electrical) is responsible for performing electrical maintenance, repair, and installation tasks to ensure the safe and continuous operation of electrical systems in the facility. The role requires technical expertise, adherence to electrical safety standards, and the ability to interpret and work from technical documents such as blueprints and wiring diagrams. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Electrical Maintenance & Repair:
    • Conduct routine inspections, testing, and repairs of electrical systems, including wiring, circuits, panels, breakers, lighting systems, and other electrical components.
    • Perform troubleshooting and diagnostic tasks to identify and resolve electrical issues efficiently.
    • Replace or repair defective or damaged wiring, components, or equipment as needed.
  • Preventative Maintenance:
    • Execute preventative maintenance tasks on electrical systems, ensuring optimal performance and preventing system failures.
    • Calibrate and test electrical equipment to verify proper functioning and compliance with technical specifications.
  • System Installation & Modifications:
    • Assist in the installation or modification of electrical systems and equipment following applicable codes and standards.
    • Use electrical drawings, blueprints, engineering drawings, and wiring diagrams to plan and execute installation or repair projects accurately.
  • Safety Compliance:
    • Follow and enforce electrical safe work practices to mitigate hazards, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and the use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
    • Adhere to consensus codes and standards regarding electrical work, such as the National Electrical Code (NEC) and OSHA regulations.
    • Actively participate in facility audits, safety drills, and training to maintain compliance and improve safety awareness.
  • Tool Usage:
    • Maintain expert-level knowledge and skill in the use of hand and power tools required for electrical maintenance and installations.
    • Ensure tools and equipment are kept in good working condition and stored properly after use.
  • Technical Documentation:
    • Interpret technical documents, engineering drawings, and wiring diagrams to diagnose problems and plan maintenance or repair activities.
    • Maintain detailed records of repairs, replacements, and inspections to ensure operational transparency and compliance with audit requirements.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Work collaboratively with other technicians, engineers, and team members to complete repair and maintenance tasks effectively.
    • Provide clear communication regarding system status, troubleshooting results, and recommendations for improvements.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to:

  • Moving mechanical parts, energized electrical equipment, and the risk of electrical shock.
  • Wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and a loud work environment.
  • Temperature extremes caused by HVAC systems, outdoor conditions, or high-heat equipment.

The position requires:

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and climbing.
  • Ability to work in tight or confined spaces such as ceilings, crawl spaces, or trenches.
  • Safely lifting and carrying tools, equipment, and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities, including close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus to inspect electrical components or read drawings and diagrams.

Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in the electrical service and maintenance trade.
  • Journeyman-level certification and licensure in electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with basic mathematical functions required for electrical calculations.
  • Extensive knowledge of hand and power tools used in electrical maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of applicable codes and standards, such as the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in consensus codes and standards relating to electrical systems, including safe work practices and hazard mitigation.
  • Ability to interpret and apply electrical drawings, blueprints, engineering drawings, and wiring diagrams for troubleshooting and repair.

Clearance Required (If Applicable):

  • TS/SCI with poly

Minimum Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum Years of Experience:

  • Two (2) years of experience in electrical service and maintenance.

Required Certifications (If Needed):

  • Journeyman Electrician License or equivalent certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree or Technical Certification in Electrical Systems, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience working in mission-critical environments (e.g., government facilities, industrial plants, or data centers).
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems, Building Automation Systems (BAS), or other monitoring tools.
  • Additional certifications in energy efficiency practices, renewable energy systems, or specialized electrical maintenance.

       

Service Contract Act (SCA) Compensation & Benefits:

This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act. The amount you are entitled to receive will vary depending upon the fringe benefits you select now and in the future.

       

Compensation Details:

$50,000 to $100,000

Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
