The HVAC/R Supervisor will be based at one of three Amentum sites in Iraq and support the Operations and Maintenance Support Services (OMSS) contract in support of the U.S. Department of State. The HVAC/R Supervisor is responsible for oversight of all site HVAC/R operations, to include maintenance, repair, and installation of environmental control systems. This role requires practical knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting, system layout, and troubleshooting.

This position is responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of HVAC/R equipment and systems and reports directly to the O&M Manager. The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.

DUTIES:

  • Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring safety remains the highest priority
  • Comply with all Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) and Quality Assurance requirements
  • Provide necessary information and documentation to ensure compliance with applicable standards
  • Operate, maintain, and repair site HVAC/R systems including, but not limited to: air-cooled chillers, direct expansion units, air handling units, filters (including chemical biological filters where applicable), ductwork, dampers, actuators, fans, chilled water lines, heating and cooling systems, fan coil units, electric reheats, diffusers, vents, VAV boxes, exhaust systems, control valves, cooling coils, and ventilation systems supporting facilities such as laundry rooms, kitchens, and restrooms
  • Schedule personnel, including shifts and rotations, to maintain required service levels
  • Assign tasks and enforce standards of conduct and performance
  • Inspect and audit work in progress and completed work to ensure compliance with codes, quality standards, and customer expectations
  • Manage tools, equipment, and inventory to maintain accountability and support operational needs
  • Complete required reports, both quantitative and qualitative
  • Provide input on policies, procedures, and administrative requirements
  • Install and mount compressors, condenser units, and air handling equipment in accordance with engineering specifications and manufacturer recommendations
  • Maintain custodianship of assigned work areas, tools, equipment, and spare parts
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned

REQUIRED:

  • Minimum Acceptable Experience Level:
  • Ten (10) years of HVAC/R experience, including at least two (4) years in a supervisory or lead role; or
  • Equivalent combination of technical training, certifications, and hands-on HVAC/R experience

Experience may be demonstrated through field work, vocational training, apprenticeship programs, or industry-recognized certifications.

  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of applicable U.S. codes and International Mechanical Code (IMC) standards
  • Strong understanding of HVAC/R systems, operations, and repairs
  • Familiarity with supporting contract operations in an overseas environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities
  • Cross-cultural awareness and ability to work within a diverse workforce
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Education:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • HVAC vocational training, apprenticeship completion, or equivalent experience
  • Passport, Licenses and Certifications: As part of pre-contingency requirements, by the time the visa process starts, candidates must possess a valid passport with a minimum of 18 months remaining to expiration date with 8 blank pages.
  • Valid drivers’ license from Home of Record  
  • EPA Section 608 Certification required
  • HVAC licensing or certification is preferred; however, candidates without a formal license may qualify based on experience and demonstrated technical expertise
  • Candidates must be able to obtain any required certifications or credentials within 180 days of employment, if applicable
  • Security Vetting: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.
  • Language Skills: Satisfactory English proficiency to meet job requirements and to adhere and comply with safety, health, and security measures.
  • Medical: Successfully complete and pass the medical and dental examinations as required by Amentum and our customer for deployment to Iraq. Must maintain physical and dental requirements for duration of deployment.

DESIRED:

  • Previous overseas experience
  • Experience working in austere or harsh environments
  • Prior experience with Amentum or similar contracts

WORKING AND LIVING CONDITIONS:

This position may be located in a war zone, in an environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly be exposed to extreme and austere desert-like environment. Temperatures can reach 120- 130 degrees Fahrenheit/50-55 degrees Celsius during the summer months. Employees must be willing and able to perform regular job requirements in this austere, extreme environment, as well as willing and able to deploy to Iraq for extended periods. Work schedules are a minimum of 6 days per week and 10 hours per day, while some jobs have higher daily and weekly minimums. Employees must be willing and able to perform physical activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting and moving of items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum; climbing in and out of equipment; crawling; and working outdoors. This includes being able to lift and carry 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time and being capable of running and ‘duck & cover’ during emergencies without putting oneself or others at risk.

       

Compensation Details:

135000.00
