Job Description

Amentum seeks an Intern who is interested in gaining practical skills and industry knowledge through tasks and/or projects related to their area of study or career interests. Specifically, the Information Technology Department is seeking an IT Systems Analyst I to provide technical support for our IT systems and implement a version control system that will manage our source code changes. During the 10 week internship, you will assess our current source control needs, research version control systems, and then recommend and possibly help implement a version control solution.

The future is uncertain. And that’s where we come in. Analyzing data. Anticipating what’s possible. We’re here to solve what’s next and get ahead of the toughest challenges we face. As an IT System Analyst I Intern, your responsibilities may include:

  • Working collaboratively with the IT team (System Admins, DBA, Developers, Project Managers, Customers, etc.).
  • Solving business problems with IT solutions for effectiveness and efficiencies.
  • Consulting with managers to determine what role the systems play in the business.
  • Defining and analyzing system requirements.
  • Writing instruction manuals for systems.
  • Training users on how to appropriately utilize computer systems.
  • Testing the systems on a regular basis to ensure quality and function.
  • Preparing costs and benefits analysis on systems.
  • Brainstorming new ways to add more functionality to systems.
  • Choosing and configuring the hardware and software of a system.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled and in pursuit of an undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science or other related field from an accredited college/university. Preference will be given to Juniors and Seniors.
  • Have a Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Must complete and have a favorable result on a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.

Desired Skills & Expertise

  • Knowledge of SQL DBA.
  • Knowledge of .NET programming.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs.
  • Experience using software version control systems.
  • Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software.
  • Ability to work individually or in a collaborative team environment.
