Amentum is seeking a Software Engineer to join our U.S. Marine Corps advanced technology development team supporting complex weapon system software development. This position supports research and development efforts focused on developing, optimizing, testing, and maintaining software in a fast-paced R&D environment.
The Software Engineer will support the development of high-performance software, improve existing code for speed and efficiency, and assist with test bench and testing activities. The primary work location is Dahlgren, Virginia, with approximately 50% weekday travel, primarily to locations along the East Coast.
Software Engineer Responsibilities Include:
Create software and correct defects using an Agile development process throughout the software development lifecycle.
Develop, maintain, and optimize software supporting complex weapon system components.
Measure and analyze computer processing time and resource usage and develop improved methods for disk-space utilization, network loading, and throughput.
Design, code, and maintain software support tools and models.
Support test bench and testing activities within an R&D environment.
Apply comprehensive knowledge of software requirements, design, coding, benchmark testing, debugging, architecture, and documentation.
Plan, perform, and support software design, coding, and testing activities.
Collaborate with technical teams on development projects and provide software engineering progress to R&D leadership.
Work effectively in a collaborative development environment and communicate technical information with team members and stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field and 4 years of experience; OR a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field and 2 years of experience.
Two (2) years of program/project-level experience in software design and development.
Two (2) years of experience performing detailed and complex software design and development meeting sub-millisecond timing requirements.
Experience working within an Agile software development environment and methodologies.
Must be able to obtain/maintain a Secret security clearance. (At a minimum, must receive/be approved for an Interim Secret security clearance in order to start.) Note: U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Three (3) or more years of C++ experience.
Compensation Details:
$90,000-$140,000
