Amentum is seeking a Software Engineer to support Naval projects in Dahlgren, VA. This position will support the development, integration, testing, and deployment of software for DoW weapons and sensor systems. The Software Engineer will work as part of a cross-functional systems and software engineering team supporting mission-critical applications and modernization efforts.
Software Engineer Responsibilities Include:
- Develop, integrate, test, and deploy software in C/C++, Java, and/or Python.
- Support software requirements development, architecture, design, and testing.
- Support modern weapon system software development, testing, and deployment activities.
- Utilize development and collaboration tools including Git, Jira, and static code analysis tools.
- Apply modern software development practices, including Agile, Scrum, and DevSecOps.
- Collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams consisting of industry and government personnel.
- Communicate technical information effectively with engineering personnel, customers, senior managers, and program managers.
- Work independently and collaboratively to meet established program goals and schedules.
- Support continuous improvement and professional development by expanding technical knowledge and capabilities.
Minimum Requirements:
- 0–10 years of relevant software development or engineering experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or another applicable technical field, or equivalent experience in lieu of the education requirement.
- Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in support of scientific and engineering work.
- Ability to work independently and within established teams to meet schedule-driven requirements.
- Must have an active Secret security clearance. Note: U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with embedded systems, GNC algorithms, and High/Low/Medium Fidelity Simulators.
- One (1) or more years of experience with Surface Combat Systems or DoW weapons system sustainment.
- Experience sustaining software systems on surface ships and/or subsurface boats.
- Systems engineering experience supporting the development and integration of software systems on surface ships and/or subsurface platforms.
Compensation Details:
$110,000
