Amentum is seeking a Laborer to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The Laborer will be responsible for performing a variety of customer service, facility support, maintenance, setup, and operational duties. This position is responsible for maintaining clean, safe, organized, and welcoming facilities while providing exceptional customer service to MWR patrons.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide friendly, courteous, attentive, and accommodating service to MWR patrons.
  • Respond professionally to patron questions, requests, and concerns.
  • Assist patrons with information regarding MWR programs, facilities, activities, and available services.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and wear the required staff uniform and name tag.
  • Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Maintain a positive, enthusiastic, responsive, and service oriented demeanor.
  • Deliver customer service consistent with Navy MWR standards and established customer service expectations.
  • Apply Star Service customer service principles and practices to provide exceptional patron experiences.
  • Complete or maintain required customer service training, including Achieving Extraordinary Customer Relations training.
  • Assist with the setup, operation, maintenance, and breakdown of MWR facilities, recreational areas, events, and equipment.
  • Assist with moving, arranging, and storing furniture, equipment, supplies, and other materials.
  • Ensure facilities and workspaces are clean, organized, safe, and maintained to established operational standards.
  • Perform routine cleaning and general labor duties as required.
  • Support other MWR personnel and program operations as needed to ensure efficient daily operations.
  • Handle and store hazardous materials in accordance with regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Follow requirements outlined in CNICINST 1710.3, Chapter 1, Section 114, Operation of MWR Programs, and other applicable safety standards.
  • Attend required safety and hazardous material handling training.
  • Maintain current CPR certification or obtain certification shortly after hiring.
  • Follow established emergency procedures and facility safety protocols.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a customer service role in recreation, hospitatlity, MWR, customer service, or a similar environment.
  • Experience providing direct customer service to the public or patrons preferred.
  • Experience working in a team oriented operational environment.
  • Proficient in verbal and written English.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
  • Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
  • Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. 
  • Must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce
  • A valid driver’s license to legally operate a motor vehicle. Valid country driver’s license. and passport.
  • Certification or training in Navy MWR Star Service.
  • Experience with Navy MWR program, operation, policies, and standards.
  • Current CPR Certification.

Working Environment

This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in offices, industrial warehouses, ports, airfields, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.

Physical Requirements

 Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location
