Lead Recreation Services Specialist

Amentum is seeking a Lead Recreation Services Specialist to support a unique US Navy
program on the island of Diego Garcia. The Lead Recreation Services Specialist is
responsible for overseeing recreational activities, programs, and facilities, ensuring high-
quality customer experience, and maintaining operational standards. This role involves
leadership, program development, and recreational event coordination across a range of
activities.
Job Responsibilities
· Coordinate and supervise recreational services, ensuring program quality and
adherence to safety protocols.
· Act as lead instructor for lifeguard training programs, leveraging certifi cation as
a Red Cross Lifeguard Training Instructor.
· Manage and coordinate sports leagues and events, including oƯiciating and
organizing Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Softball, and Flag Football games.
· Oversee the proper use and maintenance of recreational facilities, equipment, and
supplies to ensure operational readiness.
· OƯiciate games, set up sports events, and ensure adherence to rules and
regulations for Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Softball, and Flag Football.
· Support the planning and execution of recreational events, sports tournaments, and
other recreational programing.
· Develop and promote recreational activities to engage participants and encourage
active involvement.
· Ensure a positive customer experience by addressing participant inquiries,
complaints, and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
· Monitor program participation and feedback to identify areas for improvement and
growth.
· Support recreational marketing eƯorts to promote programs and events to the local
community and participants.


· Assist in the development of marketing materials to increase awareness and
participation in recreational activities.
· Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and
level of the position.

Required Qualifications
· A minimum of three (3) years of experience in military recreational services or
equivalent civilian recreational services.
· Certification as an American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Instructor.
· Profi ciency in oƯiciating sports, including Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Softball,
and Flag Football.
· Background in marketing and promotion of recreational programs or events.
· Strong organizational and time management skills to eƯectively coordinate multiple
programs and activities simultaneously.
· Effective leadership and communication skills to lead teams and engage
participants.
· Must be able to successfully complete and maintain all required training and
certifi cations, including Customer Service, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR),
First Aid, Automatic External Defi brillator (AED), and local emergency procedures
training, with annual recertifi cation as required.
· Must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the
contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.
· Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
· Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
· Ability to obtain country-specifi c visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign
Clearance Guide.
· Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain
compliance for the duration of deployment.
· Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.

Preferred Qualifications
· Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States)
environment with a multi-national workforce.
· Valid country driver’s license.
· Advanced experience in event planning, tournament management, or large-scale
recreational program development.
· Additional certifi cations in sports oƯiciating, CPR/AED, or other related recreational
leadership roles.
· Familiarity with military or government recreational services and their operational
standards.

Working Environment
This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote
overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in oƯice,
industrial, warehouse, port, airfi eld, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to
high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work
schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on
operational requirements.
Physical Requirements
Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up
to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and
