Amentum is seeking a qualified Gas Turbine Systems Technician – Maintenance with Marine Gas Turbine Inspector (MGTI) certification to provide full-time contractor support for Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) in Norfolk, VA onboard U.S. Navy and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) in-service ships (CG/DDG/FFG).  In this role you will deliver expert technical assistance, engineering assessments, complex troubleshooting, and oversight of repairs on marine gas turbines, control systems, and support systems in shipyards and onboard active vessels.

Job responsibilities:

  • Conduct technical assessments, formal inspections, troubleshooting, corrective actions, and groom support for marine gas turbines and associated support equipment.

  • Perform cold/hot checks of propulsion machinery. Log out-of-specification readings and observe system operations by ship’s force to evaluate performance.

  • Oversee hands-on repairs to engines and systems for technical completion and compliance with Navy standards. Guide ship’s force through adjustments and repairs.

  • Execute the Blade Balance Program, CEC2700 Precision Signal Source, and Rolls-Royce Utilities. Analyze data from the Full Authority Digital Control (FADC) for Gas Turbine Generators (GTG).

  • Draft detailed written visit debriefs and reports for government Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). Integrate digital photography into technical reporting using Microsoft Office.

  • Provide hands-on, on-the-job training to ship's force during shipboard evolutions. Attend designated technical conferences and seminars.

  • Fabricate, assemble, receive, install, inventory, package, and ship maintenance materials. Procure incidental items necessary to complete tasking.

  • Supervise contracted personnel and execute delivery techniques according to the task order Quality Assurance Surveillance Plan (QASP).

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

  • A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in operation, repair, maintenance, and assessment of marine gas turbines, control, and support systems.

  • A minimum of four (4) years specialized hands-on experience in mechanical/electrical troubleshooting, maintenance, assessment and repair of marine gas turbines, control, and support systems.

  • Minimum of four (4) years’ experience as a certified MGTI and possess a current MGTI certification in accordance with OPNAVINST 9220.3 (series).

  • Must have recent and current experience within two (2) years on the systems that are supported unless otherwise designated

  • Have conducted a minimum of four (4) Gas Turbine Readiness Reviews (GTRR) in the past twelve (12) months.

  • Have conducted a minimum of four (4) engine change-outs, four (4) LM2500 compressor blade changes, and four (4) Power Turbine Inspections (GTB 12/24).

  • Possess the ability to run the Blade Balance Program, CEC2700 Precision Signal Source, and Rolls-Royce Utilities for analysis of data from the Full Authority Digital Control (FADC) for the Gas Turbine Generator (GTG).

  • Must have working knowledge of LM2500 Digital Fuel Control (DFC) System IAW GTC 100.

  • Must be familiar with CG/DDG marine gas Turbines and related systems.

  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of Navy assessment programs, as well as visit processes and reporting methods.

  • Demonstrate ability to conduct troubleshooting, problem isolation, repair, maintenance, assessments and inspections of cognizant equipment and systems utilizing accepted procedures and repair standards.

  • Demonstrate ability to interpret ships’ drawings, schematics, technical manuals and other associated manuals, instructions, and procedures.

  • Ability to utilize computers including the Microsoft Office Suite for compiling information for reports and history files and transfer digital pictures from camera to computer and enhance as required and label them for report purposes.

  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualification

  • Current Marine Gas Turbine Inspector (MGTI) certification.

       

Service Contract Act (SCA) Compensation & Benefits:

This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act. The amount you are entitled to receive will vary depending upon the fringe benefits you select now and in the future.

       

Compensation Details:

$38.00 - 43.00
