Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assists one or more workers in the skilled maintenance trades by performing specific or general duties of lesser skill, such as keeping a worker supplied with materials and tools, cleaning working area, machine and equipment, assisting mechanics by holding materials or tools, and performing other unskilled tasks as directed by the mechanics.

  • Performs a variety of tasks such as washing, lubricating, loading, unloading, and storing automotive parts and supplies.

  • Maintains and cleans working areas.

  • May be allowed to perform specialized machine operations, or parts of a trade that are also performed by workers.

  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or fee; and talk or hear.

  • The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and taste or smell.

  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and extreme heat.

  • The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and risk of electrical shock.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, or may include unsafe conditions, questioning nonstandard operations or environmental factors that may involve unmitigated hazards, and providing feedback to supervisors and managers on all safety issues.

  • Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.

  • Position may require travel.

  • Procedure Compliance - Each employee must read, understand and implement the general and specific operational, safety, quality and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures and policies pertaining to his/her job.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.

  • (1) one-year related experience working with U.S. Army combat and tactical equipment preferred.

  • Relevant experience gained in commercial production control position is acceptable.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must have a valid and current state driver’s license.

  • Must understand and be able to use Technical Manuals.

  • Must be able to complete paperwork associated with vehicle maintenance and repairs.

  • Ability to manipulate and use hand tools and hydraulic equipment.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.

  • Passing a pre-employment drug screen and a government background check is required.

  • Must be able to successfully pass a National Agency Check (NAC) within 60 days of hire, if required.

  • Must be available for any shift.

  • Willing to work weekends and other hours as needed.

  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.

Work on this contract is performed at the Red River Army Depot. Access to the Depot requires all covered individuals to be registered with the United States Selective Service.
