Amentum is seeking a PPSO Specialist to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide personal property support services, ensuring the proper and timely movement, storage, and handling of personal property and Unaccompanied Baggage (UB).
  • Coordinate and oversee the shipment and receipt of personal property items for military personnel, civilian employees, and dependents per applicable regulations and procedures.
  • Assist customers in preparing, submitting, and processing necessary documentation for the relocation or storage of personal property and UB.
  • Utilize data systems to input and track personal property shipments, ensuring all movements and status updates are accurately documented.
  • Schedule transportation and storage services while maintaining compliance with government and Department of Defense (DoD) guidelines.
  • Conduct quality inspections of personal property packing, handling, and storage operations to ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Collaborate with transportation service providers and other stakeholders to resolve discrepancies or issues related to shipment claims, delays, or damages.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to address inquiries, offer guidance, and resolve customer concerns related to personal property and Unaccompanied Baggage.
  • Handle classified and sensitive information with strict confidentiality as required.
  • Maintain updated knowledge of applicable regulations, policies, and procedures for personal property and UB shipments, ensuring compliance with current guidelines.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in personal property shipping, logistics, transportation, or related fields.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with personal property preparation, shipping, receiving, and storage processes.
  • Proficiency in using data entry systems and tracking tools for shipment management.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with fluency in English for both written and oral communication.
  • Must be detail-oriented and capable of effectively managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
  • Passport should be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
  • Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for the duration of deployment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce is preferred.
  • Valid country driver’s license.
  • Background in logistics or transportation services for military or government operations.
  • Knowledge of DoD shipping and storage procedures, including familiarity with systems like Defense Personal Property System (DPS).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to resolve transportation discrepancies and disputes.

Working Environment

This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.

Physical Requirements

Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
