The Electrical Engineer supports the evaluation, planning, improvement, and long-term sustainment of electrical infrastructure systems serving facilities, utilities, and installation operations. This position performs engineering analyses, condition assessments, reliability evaluations, infrastructure planning, and technical reviews to improve the performance, resiliency, and maintainability of electrical systems.

Working closely with facility managers, maintenance personnel, planners, engineers, contractors, and customer representatives, the Electrical Engineer develops practical, data-driven recommendations to support infrastructure investments, reduce risk, improve reliability, and address future facility requirements. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain experience across facility electrical systems, utility infrastructure, maintenance engineering, construction projects, and infrastructure planning while contributing to mission-critical operations.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide technical expertise related to electrical distribution systems, facility electrical systems, lighting systems, emergency power systems, generators, and associated infrastructure.
  • Conduct assessments of electrical assets and systems to identify performance issues, reliability concerns, maintenance needs, and infrastructure improvement opportunities.
  • Perform engineering analyses and develop recommendations for repair, replacement, modernization, and infrastructure improvement projects.
  • Support facility and infrastructure planning activities by identifying future electrical system requirements and investment priorities.
  • Review electrical designs, studies, and technical documents to ensure systems are practical, maintainable, and aligned with project objectives.
  • Coordinate system designs, equipment selections, and technical recommendations with engineers, architects, planners, technicians, and project stakeholders.
  • Conduct root cause analyses of electrical equipment and system failures and develop recommendations to improve reliability and reduce recurrence.
  • Analyze asset performance, outage trends, maintenance history, repair costs, and operational data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance initiatives through condition assessments, reliability analysis, and performance monitoring.
  • Develop lifecycle and cost-benefit analyses supporting infrastructure repair, replacement, and modernization decisions.
  • Assist with resiliency initiatives, emergency power improvements, and efforts that improve infrastructure performance and operational readiness.
  • Prepare technical reports, engineering assessments, presentations, briefings, and recommendations related to electrical infrastructure and facility systems.
  • Serve as the primary engineer for the installation's electrical/utility infrastructure portfolio, supporting asset management plan activities, infrastructure planning, condition assessments, and long-range sustainment strategies.
  • Maintain and validate engineering records, asset inventories, condition assessments, and supporting technical documentation.
  • Analyze facility and infrastructure data to identify trends, risks, performance issues, and future investment requirements.
  • Support data quality initiatives and maintain information within engineering, maintenance, and asset management systems.
  • Develop performance metrics, risk assessments, and technical recommendations to support management decision-making.
  • Assist with budget preparation and expenditure planning activities
  • Collaborate with operations personnel, facility managers, maintenance teams, planners, contractors, and customer representatives to improve electrical infrastructure performance and reliability.
  • Participate in project reviews, infrastructure assessments, maintenance planning efforts, and facility improvement initiatives.
  • Support commissioning, testing, acceptance, and turnover of new or modified electrical systems.
  • Provide technical review and maintainability assessments for facility projects, maintenance activities, and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Participate in working groups, planning forums, and technical meetings related to infrastructure and facility improvements
  • Support contingency planning, emergency response activities, outage recovery efforts, and infrastructure restoration following disruptions or severe weather events.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable engineering codes, safety requirements, and contractual obligations.
  • Support process improvement initiatives, special studies, and organizational improvement efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of contract requirements and organizational objectives.
