Position Title Safety Professional

Purpose of the position

Will perform assigned health and safety professional duties as an Amentum employee onsite at the NASA Johnson Space Center.  Participates in implementing institutional health and safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and national consensus guidelines.

Principal Responsibilities of the Position

  • Assists in implementing and coordinating safety programs.
  • Researches accident data. Prepares and provides senior personnel and upper management with summarized reports and recommends proactive solutions to reduce the frequency and severity of accidents.
  •  Inspects facilities to ensure compliance with governmental regulations. Reports violations to appropriate authorities to ensure that issues are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Conducts periodic surveys and inspections of a single facility and equipment to comply with governmental regulations. Delivers safety training to assigned departments regarding routine safety procedures and precautions.
  • Assists in compiling and analyzing company data to assess regulatory compliance.
  • Collects Industrial Hygiene Samples
  • Updates written Safety and Environmental Procedures

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental health or safety or related field preferred.
  • Zero or more years of health and safety experience
  • Experience working with federal and state environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Experience working with control and prevention theories, principle, and practices.
  • Experience working with software and data processing application related to health and safety.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen in order to obtain required NASA badge.
  • Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire (candidate will be sent home if this paperwork is not provided upon arrival on date of hire).
  • Must have the ability to communicate the English language, both verbally and written, in an effective manner.
  • Must have, and maintain, a valid Texas driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass a Pre-Employment background check and drug screen test. 
  • Clean, neat, and professional personal appearance.
  • Will insure quality and completeness of work in a safe and timely manner as well as insuring areas worked are clean, neat and ready for Customers’ needs when complete.

Preferences

  • Prior knowledge of NASA site, experienced with working on government installations preferred.
  • Safety and Health Certifications (including but not limited to: Asbestos Inspector, Air Monitoring, Noise levels); preferred or willing to obtain.

       

Compensation Details:

90,000
