Amentum is seeking a Scorekeeper to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The Scorekeeper supports MWR programs by providing accurate scorekeeping and timekeeping services for athletic competitions and recreational events. This position is responsible for operating scoreboards and timing equipment, maintaining official game records, preparing facilities for scheduled events, and ensuring games are conducted in accordance with established rules and procedures.
Job Responsibilities:
- Serve as the official scorekeeper or timekeeper for athletic competitions and sporting events.
- Accurately record game scores, player participation, fouls, penalties, substitutions, and other official game statistics.
- Operate scoreboards, game clocks, timing systems, and other event equipment.
- Maintain official team rosters and verify player eligibility in accordance with established league or event rules.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of the rules and scoring procedures for assigned sports and recreational activities.
- Monitor game progress and maintain accurate timing, scoring, and event documentation throughout competitions.
- Prepare athletic facilities prior to scheduled events, including setting up and testing scoreboards, timing equipment, and related game support equipment.
- Inspect equipment prior to use and report malfunctions or maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of athletic events and recreational activities.
- Provide professional customer service to participants, officials, coaches, and spectators.
- Follow all policies, safety procedures, and operational guidelines.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience supporting organized sports, recreational programs, athletic events, or related activities.
- Working knowledge of scoring procedures, game timing, and rules for a variety of athletic competitions.
- Ability to accurately maintain official game records and operate electronic scoreboards and timing equipment.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to multi task in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to communicate with officials, participants, and spectators.
- Ability to obtain and maintain all required installation access and contract credentials.
- Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
- Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
- Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
- Employees must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce
- A valid driver’s license to legally operate a motor vehicle.
- Previous MWR or military recreation experience.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Experience coordinating organized sports leagues, tournaments, or recreational events.
- Knowledge of health, fitness, and recreational programming.

Working Environment
This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.
Physical Requirements
Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
