PURPOSE AND SCOPE

The Senior Plumber functions as key member of a multi-skilled team to safely and effectively maintain facility infrastructure and critical systems. The Senior Plumber provides a professional service in the execution of technical repair & maintenance of all assigned facility infrastructure equipment. This includes elements of planning, organization, coordination, and resource management associated with the day-to-day maintenance of the facility.

The Senior Plumber is responsible for installations, repairs, maintenance and repairs to pipe systems, fixtures and appurtenance associated with water, air, sewage, and industrial waste systems. Working both independently and as part of a skilled maintenance team, ensuring systems are operating safely and efficiently in line with relevant codes and standards.

The Senior Plumber is a member of a small team of experienced tradespeople responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of multiple system components and equipment that supports both mission and routine business operations, as well as responding to unscheduled repairs. Within this team the Senior Plumber will be a mentor to the trade personnels, contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, supporting the implementation of improvement initiatives and technical advance as well as having the ability to think on their feet and complete assigned tasks to a high standard.

This position reports to the Maintenance Superintendent and will work as a member of the overall Facilities Operations & Maintenance team, working closely with other OASIS departments to foster, promote and maintain best-practice standards and enable reliable, consistent and effective maintenance and operation of facility systems. This role is key to the success of the broader O&M team and thus also works closely with all Facilities O&M personnel in the delivery of high-quality facility O&M services to enable the mission.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Independently perform construction and maintenance of plumbing systems, working in conformance with proper codes, ordinances, sketches, specifications, blueprints, and written or verbal instructions.
  • Lay out, construct, install, rebuild, maintain, repair, adjust, modify, and test plumbing systems such as water, drain lines, lawn, and fire sprinkler systems.
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of underground sewer and water systems.
  • Determine the location, type, size, and amount of material required by considering factors such as volume, pressure, temperature, and the type of substance being piped.
  • Perform minor insulation with prefabricated mineral insulating material, binding, plastic, and cement as required, alongside routine plumbing tasks like diagnosing, testing, and repairing all types of plumbing lines and fixtures.
  • Diagnose and repair complex plumbing breakdowns that do not respond to routine maintenance.
  • Operate gas welding equipment to perform cutting, burning, and soldering as necessary to accomplish work assignments, with potential exposure to hazardous waste.
  • Maintain required logs, records, and charts while keeping up-to-date certifications and licenses required by State or local authorities.
  • Provide technical guidance in resolving complex plant breakdowns to contribute to the continual growth of knowledge within the O&M team.
  • Accurately and timely complete job-related documents such as Work Orders, time sheets, and safety reports, including inputting and processing information from paper Work Orders into digital systems.
  • Ensure, promote, and maintain health and safety practices and compliance at the site and within the workplace.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as requested.

Experiences and Skills

Essential

  • Strong understanding of Work Health Safety (WHS) Act, and EHS policies & procedures.
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience working within Facility Maintenance or similar technical environment.
  • Strong understanding of equipment maintenance requirements (preventive, predictive, & corrective)
  • Demonstrated high level of problem solving, decision making and analytical skills.
  • Strong teamwork and fault-finding skills
  • Extensive knowledge of plumbing codes, standards and regulations
  • Ability to solve complex problems
  • Demonstrate leadership skills, assisting in the continual growth and knowledge of Maintenance Plumbers
  • 10 Years post trade experience

Desirable

  • Enterprise Resource Planning experience. (SAP)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficient level of computer skills

Tickets and Licenses

Essential

  • Australian candidates must hold and be able to maintain an Australian "Advanced Tradesman" Plumbers and Drainers Licence,
  • US candidates must hold and maintain a minimum of a US State "Master Plumbing" License
  • US candidates from Arizona must hold and maintain a US State "Contractors" License.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Personnel are required to be medically fit to work and safely complete all physical tasks associated with the role in which they are employed. This includes but is not limited to being able to carry and control moderate to heavy loads and being able to safely traverse and access maintenance environments which may be uneven or cramped.

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT

It is a condition of employment at JDFPG that employees obtain and retain the appropriate level of security clearance and medical clearance applicable to each role.  The employee will initially require a NV1 with the intent of applying for a Top-Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) Department of Defense Security Clearance (Australian) or TS/SCI (U.S.) clearance.

Statement of Work Requirements:

All personnel shall be:

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Able to fluently read, write and speak English

EHS REQUIREMENT

All OASIS personnel are responsible for understanding and complying with all site environmental, health and safety requirements. While OASIS is responsible for providing a safe workplace and is responsible for ensuring compliance with requirements of the JDFPG Handbook, each person is responsible for:

  • Completing work task in a safe manner
  • Reporting any unsafe acts or conditions to their supervisor and/or OASIS PMO/EHS Manager
  • Continuous adherence to the environmental, health and safety procedures outlined in the JDFPG Handbook during the performance of their work
  • Red-Carding a Job - Employee right and responsibility to “STOP WORK” if a job is unsafe or possess a danger to the environment.
