Amentum is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to serve as a Technical Point of Contact (TPOC) supporting the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Dahlgren Division, H20, as the Government Product Owner overseeing a subsystem within the larger AN/SQQ-89 Undersea Warfare System (USW). This position is on-site at Lockheed Martin in Manassas, Virginia.

Senior Systems Engineer Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide meeting support, review and manage system requirements, review system features, review and update technical documentation, and provide USW Weapons Control system architecture oversight.

  • Collaborate closely with other Navy Warfare Centers, Technical Direction Agents (TDAs), and system integrator software developers.

  • Manage the integrator product backlog, refine performance specifications, and review integrator design artifacts.

  • Coordinate with test teams to review and analyze test event results.

  • Maintain traceability from high-level Navy capabilities to subsystem-specific requirements using dynamic databases.

  • Evaluate the localized impact of requirement Change Proposals (CPs) on the specified functional area.

  • Collaborate with other Warfare Centers in Joint Requirement Working Group (JRWG) meetings to review Performance Specifications (P-Specs) and ensure interfaces between the SQQ-89 subsystem and the larger combat system are clearly defined.

  • Review contractor-delivered design artifacts, including Functional Design Documents (FDDs) and Interface Design Documents (IDDs), to verify architectural compliance and identify potential integration risks with other combat systems.

  • Provide government oversight at technical meetings for the SQQ-89 subsystem and act as the primary TPOC for subsystem feature validation, ensuring contractor priorities align with sponsor direction.

  • Support the investigation of subsystem-specific anomalies and test failures, collaborate with lab personnel to review data logs, assist in coordinating issue recreation in lab environments, and validate detailed findings.

  • Represent the customer at Bug Adjudication Board (BAB) meetings, collaborating with Fleet Support, Safety, and other Warfare Center personnel to prioritize bugs affecting the SQQ-89 subsystem.

  • Bridge communication gaps between NSWC team members, the system integrator, TDAs, and Navy Warfare Centers to ensure unified execution of system requirements.

  • Assess high-priority defects for the SQQ-89 subsystem and coordinate with other teams to evaluate fleet impact.

  • Draft subsystem-specific government correspondence, as required, to identify requirement deviations or non-compliance.

  • Evaluate performance and technical risks for the subsystem area and develop clear, concise briefings for program leadership.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline, or four (4) years of demonstrated knowledge base and subject matter expertise relevant to the specific technical discipline of the SOW, including qualifications as a U.S. Naval operational expert in a combat systems rate at the E7 level or higher.

  • Six (6) years of engineering experience with a Maritime major weapons control or C2 system program.

  • Experience related to the design, planning, analysis, research, testing, or documentation of complex systems throughout the complete engineering life cycle.

  • Four (4) years of concurrent experience with Navy surface ship Undersea Warfare weapons control or command and control systems.

  • Three (3) years of concurrent demonstrated expertise understanding and developing Engineering Change Proposals (ECP), Interface Change Requests (ICR), Interface Design Specifications (IDS), Weapon Specifications, and other system design/system integration documents.

  • Demonstrated experience with weapon and combat system certification processes and requirements, specifically self-certification criteria for elements of the Aegis Warfare System.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with IBM DOORS for requirements management and Atlassian JIRA for Agile tracking.

  • Experience working within the Navy Warfare Center enterprise, interacting with Navy Technical Authorities.
