Amentum is seeking a Site Safety and Health Officer to support our SM-1 Project in Fort Greely, AK

Responsibilities

~ Conduct daily safety and health inspections and maintain a written log which includes area/operation inspected, date of inspection, identified hazards, recommended corrective actions, estimated and actual dates of corrections.

~ Conduct mishap investigations and complete required reports. Maintain an accident/injury log.

~ Maintain applicable safety reference material on the job site.

~ Attend the pre-construction conference, pre-work meetings including preparatory inspection and periodic in-process meetings.

~ Maintain a safety and health deficiency tracking system that monitors outstanding deficiencies until resolution. Post a list of unresolved safety and health deficiencies on the safety bulletin board.

~ Ensure employees and sub-contractors' compliance with safety and health requirements.

~ Follow activities included in the weekly schedule of activities developed by the Site Project Manager.

~ Orient contractors prior to onsite work, review SOP’s and procedures for the sub-contracting of facility projects and the health, safety, and environmental programs.

~ Determine compliance of field sites in the areas of ISO, QA, Safety, and Environmental issues.

~ Tend to any related special requirements that the Project Manager/Project Safety Manager deems necessary.

 

Minimum Knowledge

A minimum of five (5) years of safety work on similar projects is required, some industrial hygiene experience is preferred.

An associate degree in a Safety and Health related discipline from an accredited institution is preferred.

The 30-hour OSHA Construction Safety Class is preferred..

Additional work experience that includes construction/demolition experience, and Safety and Environmental Compliance is desired.
Must have a working knowledge of Safety, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Also required is knowledge of Industrial Safety Programs, Occupational Safety, Safety and Health Administration Requirements, and Code of Federal Regulations.

Has the ability to use the computer and MS Office software.

Related certification(s) are desired

Experience in excavation and trenching preferred.
 

Work Environment

. Must be able to work, kneel, bend, and stoop, and have correctable vision.

-Must be able to work safely in an active demolition and soil remediation area.
