Amentum is seeking a Software Engineer to support Naval projects in Dahlgren, VA. This position will support the design, development, integration, and testing of software for DoW weapons and sensor systems. The Software Engineer will work as part of a systems and software engineering team supporting mission-critical applications and modernization efforts.
Software Engineer Responsibilities Include:
- Develop software using C and C++ programming languages.
- Use Git for software repository and configuration management.
- Use Jira for backlog and task management.
- Support continuous integration (CI) activities.
- Perform software requirements analysis and software design.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to develop and integrate software solutions.
- Support software development activities throughout the development lifecycle.
- Perform analysis and problem-solving in support of technical and engineering requirements.
Minimum Requirements:
- 0–10 years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or another applicable technical field, or equivalent experience in lieu of the education requirement.
- Experience with or knowledge of C/C++ software development.
- Experience with software development tools and configuration management processes.
- Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an engineering team.
- Must have an active secret security clearance Note: U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior software development or systems engineering experience supporting Surface Combat Systems or DoD Weapons Systems.
- Experience with embedded systems and real-time operating systems.
- Experience with Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) algorithms.
- Knowledge or experience with hypersonic trajectories.
- Systems engineering experience supporting the development and integration of software systems on surface ships and subsurface boats.
- Experience with the integration, testing, and evaluation of software using hardware simulators.
Compensation Details:
$110000
