Amentum is seeking a Senior Manager, HR Operational Excellence, to design, optimize, and implement end-to-end HR processes that promote operational efficiency, scalability, and sustainability across our global HR Operations. This leader will leverage proven expertise in lean methodologies, process improvement, project management, and HR operations to define and execute strategic efforts that elevate the quality, efficiency, and integration of HR processes and services.

As Amentum sets the foundation for global HR Operations, this role will be highly involved in driving operational excellence, monitoring HR Operations metrics and KPIs, leading process improvement initiatives, and ensuring the seamless adoption of new workflows and standards across the enterprise. This position is ideal for someone with a passion for data-driven decision-making, process innovation, and balancing strategic vision with stakeholder collaboration.

The Senior Manager, HR Operational Excellence will lead efforts to define, measure, refine, and optimize HR operational processes, focusing on delivering high-quality outcomes and exceptional employee experiences. This role will oversee process design initiatives, drive root cause analysis, implement improvement workflows (including automation/AI opportunities), and cultivate a culture of continuous improvement within HR. In collaboration with other leaders and stakeholders, this position will ensure operational KPIs are achieved and process improvement frameworks are adopted globally.

With a focus on aligning methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma and project management practices with HR Operations, this hire will work across HR, IT, Business Units, and Centers of Excellence (COEs) to create scalable, compliant, and streamlined solutions. This position is remote telework and US Citizenship is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and document end-to-end HR processes, mapping workflows, handoffs, and dependencies to ensure efficiency and scalability.
  • Apply Lean Six Sigma methodologies to drive continuous improvement, eliminate inefficiencies, and optimize workflows with a focus on automation and AI integration.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure HR operational effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Analyze data trends and root causes, providing actionable insights to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Conduct regular quality audits to ensure processes align with design and compliance standards, driving corrective action as needed.
  • Lead cross-functional efforts to implement new processes and projects, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and timelines.
  • Manage the change adoption process, supporting stakeholder engagement and communication to drive success.
  • Collaborate with HR leaders, IT, and business stakeholders to align priorities and deliver operational excellence.
  • Serve as a resource and mentor within HR Operations, promoting a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Operational Design: Ability to design scalable, compliant processes tailored to global environments with comprehensive workflow documentation.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Expertise in monitoring KPIs and interpreting trends to improve operational quality and performance.
  • Change Leadership: Skilled in managing change adoption to ensure the success of new tools, workflows, and governance structures across teams.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Proven ability to partner successfully with cross-functional leaders and operate as a trusted process facilitator.
  • Continuous Improvement Mindset: Strong record of identifying and implementing lean solutions that enhance operational efficiency and innovation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a complex, matrixed environment, influencing diverse stakeholders at various organizational levels.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience driving change management and process adoption globally.
  • Program management skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • 12+ years of experience in process improvement, HR operations, or program management, with a proven ability to lead global, cross-functional initiatives.
  • Expertise in Lean Six Sigma methodologies (Black Belt preferred) and hands-on experience driving end-to-end process improvement projects.
  • Proficiency with process mapping tools (e.g., Visio, Lucid, Miro) and HR technology platforms such as Workday and ServiceNow.
  • Experience in defining and managing KPIs, conducting root cause analysis, and delivering data-driven insights to improve operational performance.
  • PMP certification or equivalent is a plus.
  • Experience in HR Shared Services, HR Case Management, and broader HR Operations is desirable.
  • Results-oriented mindset with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively to meet organizational goals.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time management-level position.
  • Primarily remote, with occasional travel to Amentum’s U.S. headquarters or other business locations as needed.
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines and prioritize deliverables in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

       

Compensation Details:

$132k - 165k
