Purpose and Scope:

The Supervisor, Complex Control Center is responsible for the remote monitoring and operation of the power and utility command and control systems including water, HVAC, power and propellants for over 200,000 sensors and 150 facilities across Kennedy Space Center. Ensures staff is trained, tested and certified to operate each system console in a 24/7 office setting. Oversees the systems and equipment operation, maintenance and upgrades communicating with Communications and IT contractors. Integrates CCC support with NASA and Commercial customers launch operations including launch countdown. Candidate must have excellent communications skills including procedure writing and presenting to customers at all levels.

Job Duties and Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team that oversees the operations, safety and coordination of a 24/7 control room ensuring efficient monitoring, emergency response and compliance with operational standards.
  • Oversee daily operations in a control room environment and coordinate emergency/abnormal situation responses.  Evaluate and respond to emergency situations, notifying relevant personnel, and coordinating with field teams, emergency services and affected customers. 
  • Oversee SCADA systems, alarms, and other operational technologies to detect anomalies and maintain operational integrity.
  • Coordinate with FPL account manager to coordinate/plan/participate in CILC Events and other FPL planned work that affects KSC.
  • Manage budget to support increased revenue
  • Work on development and implementation of Operational Agreements with various contractors and customers.
  • Monitor and report CCC readiness for launch and integrated test readiness reviews; participate in launch simulations
  • Develop procedures and report and maintain documentation of operational performance.
  • Work with engineering and NASA to develop, maintain and implement switching restrictions for various critical integrated operations.
  • Perform data gathering and metric reporting as required. Analyze operational data to troubleshoot issues, identify system performance and problems, increase efficiency, and improve safety and quality.
  • Develop departmental procedures, desk instructions, checklists, forms and user guides.  Prepare incident reports, maintain logs, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Create and publish weekly manning schedules including matching individuals to proper consoles or work assignments consistent with their certification, shift and days off.
  • Impact and assess KCCS, facility and communications system outage requests on behalf of the CCC.  Input all KCCS network outages into the Maximo Outage System.
  • Develop OJT documents for personnel to prepare for required certification; administer certification/recertification testing based on current environment.

Required Education/Certifications/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in respective field. Equivalent experience may be substituted for degree.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience leading, mentoring and/or delegating the work of others.

Preferred Education/Certifications/Experience:

  • Previous experience in control room operations or control management is highly desired.
  • Familiarity or experience working with SCADA systems is highly desired.

Required Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must have proven working knowledge of at least one of the following systems: Water, Power, HVAC or Pneumatics as well as knowledge of integrated flow activities.
  • Must have basic computer Knowledge of Microsoft Tools.
  • Must be self-motivated, results oriented individual that possesses sound technical judgment and has excellent organizational, communication and time management skills.

Preferred Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiar with Maximo desirable.  

Other Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain required clearances/badges as required by program and position
  • Must have the ability to communicate in English, both verbal and written in an effective manner.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

This position involves work typical of an office environment with no unusual hazards; occasional lifting to 20 pounds; constant sitting with use of computer terminal; constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents; constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication; constant mental alertness; must possess planning/organizing skills and must be able to work under deadlines. Field work will consist primarily of site walk downs in support of design projects and system trouble shooting Site hazard training and Personal Protective Equipment are provided.
