Amentum is seeking a Systems Engineer at Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) Virginia to assist with systems and technical engineering services.

The Systems Engineer will work as an integral part of the team, as well as with end-users, management, and sponsors, throughout the design, integration and iterative test of prototypes and tactical systems.

Systems Engineer Responsibilities Include:

  • Communicating with key stakeholders and project leadership to ensure coordination across the tactical and training systems projects regarding hardware builds, project schedules, status updates.

  • Performing programmatic and system analysis activities to define, analyze, and validate improvements to process and tool operations for our hardware development team.

  • Working with stakeholders across a multi-disciplinary technical team to elicit, document, and prioritize user requirements for assigned work tickets; translate requirements into design options to analyze and validate user needs; act as liaison between end-users/stakeholders and developers; facilitate and support QA/testing to ensure solutions meet stakeholder requirements.

  • Improving and maintaining system documentation & quick reference guides pertaining to Jira projects and assist in communicating enhancement and bug fixes to the Development team.

  • Assisting with development and maintenance of hardware development process documentation, to include SOPs, QA checklists, policies, and other general guidance in support of Hardware development objectives.

  • Assisting Hardware development team lead in tracking hardware licenses, gathering quotes, and drafting necessary procurement requirements for maintenance renewals and new license requests.

  • Working with technical and project leadership to provide input on Process tailoring for specific projects and integrating those changes into Jira Workflows.

  • Coordinating and track any necessary updates to Standard Operating Procedures and Risk Hazard Analysis (RHA) for test facilities.

  • Coordinating with IMS scheduler to identify critical paths, milestones, and deliverables for the hardware team as well as update Jira tasks accordingly.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or another Scientific/Technical field.

  • 2+ years of experience in engineering development.

  • Must be able to obtain/maintain a Secret security clearance (at a minimum, must receive/be approved for an interim Secret security clearance in order to start) Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a SECRET Clearance.

  • Experience with Scrum/Agile project management processes and ability to perform requirements elicitation, analysis, documentation, and verification tasking.

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Preferred:

  • Ability to create requirements specifications in both technical and user-friendly language/formats.

  • Experience with hardware engineering processes preferred.

  • Prior experience and proficiency with Atlassian Jira.

  • Experience with DoD engineering programs is highly desired.
