We have an exciting opportunity for a
Systems Engineering Simulator (SES) Integrated Studies Team Member (IST) / Software Developer to join the team with ERC, a teammate company.
We are seeking a highly motivated SES IST / Software Developer to run customer simulation sessions, troubleshoot technical issues, and develop and integrate simulation software and visual systems. Ideal candidates thrive in a rapidly changing engineering environment, communicate effectively with customers, and help advance new simulation technologies.
As an SES IST Member / Software Developer you will:
- Interface with customers for simulation sessions and studies, including setup, simulation execution and follow-up.
- Demonstrate simulations and facilities to SES visitors and customers.
- Perform rapid troubleshooting and resolving system issues.
- Effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
- Successfully operate in a highly dynamic simulations engineering environment with a team of engineers working to rapidly develop spacecraft simulation functionality.
- Strong customer focus, highly effective communication skills, and the ability to work in a dynamic, rapidly changing engineering environment with demanding customers on a compressed schedule
- Research innovative new simulation and graphics technologies that would be beneficial to SES customers.
- Work closely with customers to capture and manage simulation and software requirements.
- Design, develop, and maintain software.
- Develop software for hardware interfaces (such as Ethernet, hand controllers, serial ports, microcontrollers, etc.).
- Perform integration and testing of simulations with visuals and human-in-the-loop mock-ups.
- Perform software testing and verification.
- Troubleshoot simulation issues as they arise.
- Develop and maintain operational documentation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering with experience in the field or in a related area.
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in a STEM discipline.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstration of ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
- Experience with Linux.
- Computer programming experience.
Requisition Preferences:
- Experience with the following programming/scripting languages:
- C/C++
- Python
- Tcl/Tk
- Java
- Javascript / JQuery
- PHP
- NASA “Trick" Simulation Environment (publicly available at https://github.com/nasa/trick )
- Object-oriented Programming
- database manipulation (e.g. PostgreSQL, etc.)
- shell scripting (e.g., Csh, Tcsh, Bash, etc.
- debugging programs in general
- Git and Gitlab
- Jira
- DOUG/EDGE and/or Unreal graphic engines
- Microsoft Office 365 applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams)

Essential Functions Work Environment Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
Physical Requirements Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
Equipment and Machines Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).
Attendance Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
