Role Title: Systems Security Specialist

Role Background and Scope:

Amentum has been tasked by Defence to source a range of specialist resources to provide support for the delivery of a range of patrol vessels, specialist ships, and maritime capabilities for the Royal Australian Navy, the Australian Border Force, and partner nations. This includes:

- Delivering six Offshore Patrol Vessels for the Royal Australian Navy.
- Delivering a new sail training ship.
- Delivering twenty‑four Patrol Boats to Pacific and Indian Ocean partner nations under the Commonwealth’s Pacific Maritime Security Program.
- Delivering ten Patrol Boats for the Royal Australian Navy.
- Delivering up to eleven additional Patrol Boats for the Australian Border Force.
- Managing procurement of vessels and vessel‑like assets for Defence and other agencies.
- Supporting other tasking as directed by senior leadership.

Responsibilities: 

The Systems Security Specialist will support Defence to integrate security considerations across design, acquisition, acceptance, and sustainment, particularly for naval vessels and maritime systems. This will ensure that security risks are effectively identified, assessed, and managed across patrol and specialist ship acquisitions, supporting the delivery of secure, compliant, and operationally effective capabilities. Key responsibilities include: 

- Assessment and evaluation of security threats against agreed plans and implement strategies to achieve project outcomes
- Initiating resolution of security issues by identifying and developing solutions through analysis of alternative courses of action and their implications
- Planning and delivery of engineering services, regulatory compliance, resource management, and project outcomes
- Interpretation and ensuring compliance with legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks.

Essential Requirements:

- Tertiary qualifications in either Engineering (Electrical, Software or related discipline), Cyber Security or Information security or Computer Science or related technical discipline
- Demonstrated long term relevant experience in systems security, cyber security or security engineering roles
- Strong background supporting Defence or other national‑security programs, preferably within maritime, naval, or complex platform acquisitions
- Working knowledge and understanding of maritime acquisition projects
- Proven experience in the interpretation of legislation, policy and regulatory frameworks and the ability to apply them as practical project controls
- Solid understanding of Australian Government and Defence security frameworks

Desirable Requirements:
- Formal training or accreditation in Australian Government or Defence security frameworks
- Prior experience working within ASDEFCON based contracts and Defence Acquisition governance
- Ability to effectively manage security inputs across a variety of stakeholders
- Strong report writing skills

Required Security Clearance Level: NV1

Location: Canberra

Weekly Hours: 40 Hours Per Week
