Purpose: The Transportation Manager oversees planning, directing, and coordinating all the activities related to transportation operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a contact point for all workers within the Transportation Section. Reports directly to the Director of Logistics at RDC-U
  • Develops, coordinates, directs and disseminates policy, guidance, procedures and responsibilities, resolves program/department issues and provides oversight to personnel assigned to the Transportation section.
  • Has oversight of the coordination of intra-theater transportation of Class IX parts and Class VII equipment and any other required supplies within the host country.
  • Ensures adherence to all in-country movement requirements and shall operate vehicles IAW country traffic regulations.
  • Works with other managers and staff members to make and implement policies, processes and objectives.
  • Monitors transportation operations to ensure that staff members comply with the company rules, safety procedures and government regulations
  • Works with the Operations Manager to coordinate activities of the operations department to obtain the use of equipment, facilities and human resources.
  • Oversees proper ground guiding of vehicles/trucks coming into the site, verifies data on the Form 302, escorts vehicles to the fuel point and move vehicle to maintenance section to be inspected.
  • Oversees the coordination of transportation of equipment requiring maintenance from the border to the maintenance site and coordinate the returning of repaired equipment to different work sites.
  • Ensures Transportation Movement Requests (TMRs) are received and reviewed ensuring it is within the scope of work and properly processed.
  • Accounts for all internal vehicle and container movements by monitoring the internal TMR record.
  • Oversees the carrying out of requests by utilizing necessary MHE for the task.
  • Uses the correct hand signals to guide vehicles and equipment around the worksite.
  • Assists in loading and unloading of material transported.
  • Ensures verification and processing of inbound and outbound cargo by properly processing 302s.
  • Briefs transportation topics or other changes in policies.
  • Confers with Operations to determine changes in transportation missions and to inform transportation mission changes.
  • Liaises with the commercial and military drivers that arrive on site to pick up equipment.
  • Liaises with different Brigade Movement Control Teams (BMCTs), Movement Control Teams (MCTs) to resolve any movement queries or problems.
  • Maintains daily timesheets ensuring correct times are accurate.
  • Ensures strict compliance to safety practices and support the Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Instills a safety-first mentality within respective work areas and a culture that achieves low accident rates and minimal lost-time injuries.
  • Adheres to ISO Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions in support of Quality Management System.
  • Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Education:

  • High School graduate or equivalent.

Experience:

  • 6 years of management experience in the same or similar position.

Specialized Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must have a thorough and detailed knowledge of SMS, GATES Joint Operating Procedures and Execution System (JOPES), Global Command & Control System (GCCS), Global Transportation Network (GTN), Transportation Coordinator's Automated Information for Movement System II (TC-AIMS II), Joint Force Requirements Generator II (JFRG II) and Deployment and Sustainment Support Tool (DS2T).
  • Traces all Department of Defense (DOD) High shipments by maintaining access to IDE/GTN (Integrated Development Environment/Global Transportation Network) Convergence (IGC).
  • Must have broad Management knowledge of transportation operations, practice, and policies as well as a thorough knowledge of transportation automated systems to satisfy user requirement
  • Must be able to properly develop and manage appropriate performance standards, track transportation production, and ensure facilities operate in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Must have a comprehensive knowledge of the Logistics STAMIS in use manage and leverage these systems. Must be able to properly manage production for compliance with scheduling directives, cost factors and other applicable standards.
  • Needs to be able to manage, plan and coordinate large movements of Equipment and Cargo throughout the aera of operations.
  • Familiar and knowledgeable of DoD 4500.9-R
  • Must speak, read, and write English.
  • Ability to apply comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high impact assignments.
  • Be able to drive and operate the equipment on site, having undertaken the appropriate familiarization training.
  • Excellent computer knowledge and skills (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook), interpersonal, oral and written communication skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge or experience in using the Movement and Funding Automated Support Tool (MFAST) is preferred.
  • International driver’s license prior to deployment preferred.

Certification, License & Clearance:

  • Valid US Driver’s license required.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a CAC, if required.

Facility credentials/authorization required:

Must be able to obtain and maintain facility and credential /authorization:

Note- US Citizenship is required for facility credential/authorization at this work location.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

  • Ability to perform job duties efficiently and effectively.
  • Must be able 50lbs.
  • Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including dust and high temperatures.
  • Must be able to endure long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
  • When performing work, responsible for adhering to environmental, safety, and health standards related to the activity, including the wearing of all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
