Amentum is seeking an Unexploded Ordnance Tech I to support the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) Mission in Andros Island, Bahamas. AUTEC is a Major Range and Test Facility Base (MRTFB) and the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport's largest single team project, providing both deep and shallow water test and training environments. The Unexploded Ordnance Tech I is responsible for performing handling, preparation, post run and transport of exercise torpedoes and associated equipment in accordance with NAVAIR/NAVSEA/NAVFAC guidelines on the AUTEC project.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform mechanical and electrical maintenance and repair on exercise torpedoes (MK-46/MK-50 REXTORP's, MK-48, and MK-46, 54 EXTORP's) and associated equipment in accordance with NAVAIR/NAVSEA guidelines.
  • Operate tractor-trailer, forklift, and overhead cranes per NAVFAC guidelines.
  • Conduct rigging operations of heavy equipment per NAVFAC standards.
  • Handle, package, transport hazardous ordnance material up to 1.1 per NAVORD standards.
  • Operate torpedo data extraction computer per NAVSEA standards.
  • Operate and maintain the breathing air system in support of the torpedo operations.
  • Operate and maintain breathing air system.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 0 - 3 years of relevant experience.
  • High school Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must meet qualifications for Naval ordnance certification program.
  • Must pass annual CPR / First Aid training.
  • Must pass NAVSEA/NAVAIR Torpedo Certification program.
  • Must pass NAVFAC Crane Certification for CAT III overhead cranes.
  • Must be able to pass an Otto Fuel II and HEP physical yearly.
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds of material or equipment.
  • Must be able to work and wear 30 pounds of equipment regularly.
  • Must be able to regularly work in a controlled environment where temperatures can exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit in full hazmat suit and utilizing a breathing apparatus.
  • Excellent communication skills to interface with all levels of personnel in a multi-cultural team-oriented environment.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good personal computer and Microsoft Office products skill with emphasis on Word.
  • Analytical skills to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to reside in remote location with limited medical facilities.
  • A valid US Passport and Driver's License are required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Associates degree or the 4 years of military training. 
  • One (1) or more years related experience working in a torpedo shop environment.
  • One (1) or more years of certification in forklift, tractor-trailer, and overhead crane operations.
  • NAVFAC crane operator certification.
  • U.S. Navy Basic and Advanced Underwater Torpedo School.
  • One (1) year electronics technology experience or locally obtained certification in REXTORP preps and weapon data extractions.

       

Compensation Details:

$23.00
