Purpose and Impact:

In support of a challenging, critical, and rewarding program that provides integrated voice, video, and data services throughout the Information Technology lifecycle, Amentum is seeking a Senior VDI Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team of IT professionals dedicated to fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. You must be a critical thinker, have a strong work ethic, and be able to work independently or as a member of a team in a dynamic environment. To be successful, you must be able to rapidly adapt and learn how to operate the front and back end of new products and processes.

Work Schedule: 5 Days (Mon – Fri); 8 hrs/Day; 40 hrs/wkly

Essential Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities of the VDI Systems Engineer include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Architecting and deploying Citrix infrastructure, including Virtual Apps and Desktops (on-prem or Cloud) and NetScaler/ADC for secure remote access.
  • Monitor system health, performing software upgrades/patches, and troubleshooting, specifically in Windows Server and Active Directory environments.
  • Utilize Provisioning Services (PVS) or Machine Creation Services (MCS) to manage and deploy virtual desktop images.
  • Manage SSL certificates, configuring Citrix policies, and implementing multi-factor authentication (MFA).
  • Use tools like Citrix Director/Monitor to analyze and tune session performance.
  • Analyze system logs to identify the root causes of performance issues and implement appropriate solutions to address them
  • Create and update technical documentation, standardizing procedures, and training Tier 2 System Administrators.
  • Maintain compliance with security standards and best practices by adhering to established guidelines and implementing appropriate measures
  • Conduct testing and validation of backup and disaster recovery procedures to confirm their effectiveness and readiness for potential incidents
  • Assess future infrastructure requirements and make necessary capacity adjustments to accommodate organizational growth and evolving demands
  • Collaborate with application teams to integrate their applications into the virtualized environment, ensuring seamless compatibility and functionality
  • Offer technical support to users and IT teams on Citrix technologies, addressing questions, resolving issues, and assisting with system operations
  • Keep up to date with the latest features and functionalities of Citrix technologies to leverage new advancements and improve system performance

Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • Must have active Top-Secret clearance with SCI or TS with the ability to acquire SCI 
  • Must have several years of experience with Virtual Apps and Desktops, Citrix Cloud, NetScaler (ADC), and PVS/MCS.
  • Must have experience with Citrix Virtual Desktop Infrastructure and Dell Wyse thin clients (or similar hardware).
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2019, Microsoft Windows Server 2025, VMware ESXi, Active Directory, SAN, SQL 2012/16, VCP 7.X.
  • Knowledge of network protocols and configuration.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
  • Experience with data protection and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Proven experience in recommending solutions that improve customer satisfaction and/or the mission of the customer.
  • Ability to work well in a team and effectively communicate technical information 
  • Must be able to work a 40-hour work week, normally Monday through Friday 
  • Ability to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last-minute requests for overtime if needed 
  • Ability to travel (5-10%) primarily within 75 miles 
  • Familiarity with MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Project and Visio 
  • Exceptional attention to detail; excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong critical thinking, organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills 
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment 

Clearance Required:

  • Must have active Top-Secret clearance with SCI or TS with the ability to acquire SCI

Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma

Minimum Years of Experience:

  • 8 years of relevant experience

Required Certifications:

  • Must possess, or be able to obtain a VMware Certified Professional (VCP), a Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP-MCI), and one of the following 8140 IAT Level II or III baseline certifications before a start date:
  • Level II certifications include – CCNA Security, GISCP, GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP
  • Level III certifications include – CASP CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, GCIH

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT related field
  • Citrix Certified Professional (or Associate)
  • Microsoft Certified Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
  • Experience with ServiceNow 
  • Experience with ITIL

Compensation Details:

$165,000
