The successful candidate will join the Resource Integration Office team to support the Center Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering Contract (CMOE) located at NASA Langley Research Center. This position reports directly to the RIO director. All work will be performed with a high standard of quality and professionalism.  All safety policies and procedures must be followed.

Responsibilities:

The intern will assist with preparing internal and external financial reports and support a variety of data analysis activities. Responsibilities include helping identify and resolve data discrepancies, reviewing financial information, and developing basic insights using Power BI. The intern will also support essential business operations such as account reconciliation, records management, and team communications.

Additionally, the intern will complete a dedicated Power BI project during the internship. This project will involve building a visual analytical tool and presenting the final product to department directors.

This role also includes general clerical duties such as filing, scheduling and planning meetings, and assisting with event coordination. Familiarity with Microsoft tools, including Power BI, Excel, and PowerPoint, is preferred.

Qualifications:

U.S. Citizenship is required. Ability to understand basic engineering terminology. College courses in accounting, business, and/or communications are desirable. Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and written with effective use of visual aids. Should be able to use computing technology for problem analysis and solutions.

Essential Functions

Work Environment

  • Office Environment (95%)
  • Travel between facilities and test operations may bring exposure to loud noise and potentially hazardous equipment operation (5%)

Physical Requirements

  • Potential exposure to high noise levels, hazardous chemicals, propellants and the like. Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions.

Equipment and Machines

  • Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, copier, etc.) (40%)
  • Software: MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint)
  • Safety and Personal Protective Equipment (100%)

Attendance

  • Regular attendance mandatory (100%)
  • Overtime/work outside normal schedule required (10%)
  • Travel required (<5%)

Other Essential Functions

  • U.S. Citizenship required. 
  • A Valid Real ID compliant identification – www.dhs.gov/real-id is required
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.

  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety/risk hazard to the employee or others.
  • The work environment requires the ability to cooperate and work with individuals at all levels of the company and the client.
  • Employees will exercise diligence when developing a Safe Plan of Action (SPA) for each task performed. Your SPA is a Company provided tool to be used for the prevention of incidents, accidents, and injuries; as such, it is the most important tool that you are required to use.

       

Service Contract Act (SCA) Compensation & Benefits:

This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act. The amount you are entitled to receive will vary depending upon the fringe benefits you select now and in the future.
