Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Aquatics Manager to support unique US Navy program based on the island of Diego Garcia.

Principal Accountabilities

(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)

  • Serves as the aquatics manager responsible for managing and supervising the aquatic programs for an FMWR activity.
  • Assist the program manager with a wide variety of management and administrative tasks associated with operating a fully functional activity that is safe and enjoyable for all participants.
  • Participates in and or leads the planning process that results in providing a wide range of fairly typical, conventional and well-established basic aquatic activities.
  • Conducts all the necessary coordination of various details for reoccurring and nonrecurring aquatic, fitness, instructional, and joint community programs.
  • Interviews and selects staff and provides orientation, training and supervision. Provides leadership, direction, management and analysis of all aspects of the program as required.

Requirements:

  • The Aquatics Manager shall have Instructor Certification as a lifeguard or water safety instructor in accordance with MWR Policy
  • Undergraduate or Graduate Education with a major in General Recreation or one of the appropriate fields or recreation related to the position or at least one-year specialized experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Shall possess and maintain CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers (CPRO) through the American Red Cross and Aquatic Facility Operator or Certified Pool Operator (NAVMED 5010-4). 
  • Must have at least 3 years of experience in a leadership role.
  • Must possess a Red Cross CPR Certification
  • Previous work experience in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and customer service skills.
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
  • Valid country driver's license and passport.
  • Country visa (as required in line with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide).

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Lifeguard Instructor and Water Safety Instructor certifications preferred
  • Knowledge of the roles of the lifeguards during a coordinated rescue scenario for the safety of the rescuers and the victim. 
  • Knowledge of and ability to conduct pool chemical testing, adjust chemical imbalances and document the results. 
  • Skill in planning and executing a comprehensive aquatics program that include a variety of aquatics activities which meet the needs of the installation. 
  • Shall possess the ability to analyze and prepare clear, concise, and technically sound reports related to work within the Branch. 
  • Shall be able to manage the use and maintenance of emergency equipment related to the aquatics program. 
  • Shall be capable of developing and overseeing emergency medical and rescue training, public education and other related educational and functional duties. 
  • Ensures all maintenance work, water chemical testing, pool vacuuming, filtration and equipment are within the scope required by preventive medicine standards. 
  • Shall serve as the Subject Matter Expert on aquatics for the installation.
