Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Chef to support a unique US Navy program based on the island of Diego Garcia.

Job Responsibilities

The Chef is responsible for preparing a wide variety of high-quality meals, snacks, and beverages, ensuring customer satisfaction, and upholding the highest standards of food safety and sanitation. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparing and producing complete meals on the menu, including a wide variety of dishes requiring extensive and complex preparation.
  • Creating satisfying, nutritionally sound, and high-quality meals while ensuring food presentation is appealing to customers.
  • Ensuring all food preparation, storage, serving, and dining areas are maintained at the highest levels of cleanliness, organization, and sanitation.
  • Providing professional and courteous service in a satisfying and relaxing atmosphere for customers.
  • Maintaining inventory levels of food and kitchen supplies to meet menu requirements.
  • To the maximum extent practical, ensuring menu items are available and indicating any unavailable dishes on the menu.
  • Receiving and completing mandatory food sanitation training, including a minimum of four hours within the first 30 days of employment and an additional four hours annually.
  • Adhering to all safety, quality, and sanitation standards required in food preparation, storage, and service.
  • Collaborating with other kitchen staff to effectively manage food preparation schedules and accommodate dietary restrictions or special menu requests.
  • Remaining responsive to customer feedback to consistently improve and evolve menu offerings and service delivery.

Minimum Requirements

  • A minimum of two years of satisfactory experience in preparing and producing a wide variety of meals, including menu items that require lengthy and elaborate preparation.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards, with the willingness and ability to complete mandatory food sanitation training (four hours within the first 30 days of employment and four hours annually).
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to coordinate multiple food preparation tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance for the duration of deployment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce.
  • Valid country driver’s license.
  • Country visa (as required in line with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide).
  • Experience working in a military or government dining setting with knowledge of menu planning and meeting nutritional guidelines.
  • Familiarity with inventory control processes and ensuring adequate stock levels for a large-scale dining facility.
  • Demonstrated skill in delivering excellent customer service while preparing meals to order.
