Do you have a passion for space? While others may be putting people in space, we are putting people on the Moon and Mars and beyond.
As part of your time with ASED, you will support the S5 Solar Sail project in the design and test of wireless Reflective Control Devices (RCDs) on the Amentum ESSCA contract.
You will be working with digital hardware and logic designers to support two printed circuit board designs – a node board at each corner of the sail, and a central hub board that interfaces to the spacecraft bus. The hub board will interface with the spacecraft bus and send/receive wireless commands to the node boards using a LoRa radio. The node boards will switch RCDs on/off, which provide steering to the spacecraft. The control logic for both the hub and node boards are provided by an FPGA.
Responsibilities:
Assist digital design engineers with the electrical schematic and component layout of hub and node printed circuit boards.
Assist in electronic parts selection.
Assist in creating parts kit for assembly or printed circuit boards.
Assist logic designer in architecture and implementation of VHDL logic.
Assist in setup of laboratory for testing.
Assist team members in functional testing of printed circuit boards and system.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure products meet performance goals.
Provide weekly written and oral status reports in a meeting setting.
