Amentum is seeking an Engineering Draftsperson to be responsible for drawings that meet specified requirements for their organization, under minimal supervision.  AutoCad is used to create drawings that satisfy project needs, analyze drawings and modify existing designs such as Schematics, System and Facility Baselines, Floor Plans, Interconnect, Rack Elevation, Network, Cable Plant, Engineering, Installation, Bore Site Towers, Antenna Configurations, Radar Pedestals and other drawings for all PMRF sites. Employs rudimentary drafting and illustration techniques to trace and annotate graphic data. The Engineering Draftsperson provides technical drafting and design support for PMRF in accordance with Navy and DoD standards.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:

  • Produces graphic data and reproductions of range systems and base facilities.
  • Depicts positional information, velocity, acceleration, depth, altitude, etc., on graphical charts through interpretation of tabulated positional data obtained from operations.
  • Prepares interconnect, structural drawings, equipment/facility layouts, one-line diagrams, schedules and maps.
  • Posts changes and additional information to existing electronic maps and drawings.
  • Plans, prints or records in accordance with specific drawing standards and instructions.
  • Work closely with project managers and project engineers to make sure that the design is precise.  To also ensure that the contract responsibilities are met.
  • Accountable for the maintenance of the CAD drawing library
  • Maintain document control log for all reproduction services.
  • Performs site checks, measuring existing structures, documenting current conditions.
  • Meet all project specifications and formatting within company principles.
  • Maintains system drawings of all systems defined in Configuration Management requirements.
  • Interpret technical sketches, site visits, field measurements, and engineering notes to create or update drawings.
  • Prepare drawing packages in accordance with NAVFAC, MIL-STDs, and ASME Y14.5 drafting standards and DoD submission requirements.
  • Coordinate redlines and field changes into official design packages.
  • Conduct on-site surveys or site visits to validate existing conditions and incorporate findings into design documents.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with quality, safety, and security policies applicable to military installation.
  • Performs other duties as required by Supervisor.

Pushing/ Pulling: 25 - 50 lbs

Environmental: Customer Contract; Office Laboratory; Field Assignment

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective time management and the ability to manage multiple assignments under deadline.
  • Professional communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of relevant building codes and industry standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering and architectural drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in technical drafting using AutoCAD or similar software and in support of NAVFAC, DoD, or federal government facilities.
  • Knowledge of DoD technical criteria such as MIL-STDs, and ASME Y14.5.
  • Familiarity with Maximo, or other federal asset/drawing management systems.
  • AutoCAD Certified Professional or equivalent certification.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US DoD Secret Clearance
  • Valid State Driver’s License.
  • Ability to work well in a team and on your own

Education:

  • Associate's Degree or certification in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Architecture, or related field.

SECURITY CLEARANCE:

Secret security clearance is required. Applicants selected must be a US Citizen in order to apply for a Secret Security Clearance.  Applicants selected either must currently possess a Secret clearance or will be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain clearance prior to commencement of employment, and maintain a security clearance for access to classified information or Closed/Restricted Areas throughout duration of employment.

Compensation

The annual starting hourly rate for this position is $45.56 per hour. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
