About the Opportunity
We are recruiting for an Environment and Waste Management Lead to ensure clients in Poland and potentially other Central European countries are provided with high-calibre supporting expertise in a range of environmental and waste related disciplines, in this role you will be supported in the progression to functional/discipline lead in the relevant subjects. This role will be based in our Warsaw location and will support Hybrid working.
You'll support Amentum’s clients in gathering data, preparing applications and engaging with governmental authorities during administrative proceedings as is necessary to obtain the applicable permits required for the implementation of NPP and associated investments. The role not only requires relevant technical expertise in the fields of environment and waste, but also experience of legislation, regulations and the administrative proceeding associated with obtaining the applicable permits required for the implementation of NPP and associated investments.
Key Responsibilities:
Review client projects to determine where environmental and waste matters require address, understand the environmental and waste related applicable permits and the technical basis behind such applications.
Establish waste management and environmental strategies, plans and procedures for nuclear facilities as required by clients, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and expected technical aspects.
Support clients in understanding / delivering on waste characterisation, classification and waste inventory requirements and advise on strategies aimed at incorporating international principles such as waste minimisation, safe storage, transportation and disposal.
Provide support to clients in discharging relevant accountabilities as a member state of the European Union (and Euratom). Support in this context could cover a range of environmental and waste transboundary considerations and submissions, and other relevant matters such as sustainability planning and reporting.
Establish and manage appropriate interface arrangements with key contacts in each client and, where required, support the client’s interface with governmental authorities and other relevant organizations.
Provide training and awareness to Amentum team members, suppliers and clients regarding international best-practice (including benchmarking) in environmental and waste management practices, processes and procedures.
Advise on capacity and competency requirements in environmental and waste disciplines for Amentum’s team in Poland and clients’ organisations.
Act as the technical lead for the delivery of projects to Amentum’s clients in Poland.
Contribute to business development activities
Here's What You'll Need
Relevant degree level (or equivalent) education, in a suitable engineering, legal, environmental or other relevant subject matter area.
Demonstrable vocational training engagements throughout the postholder’s professional development e.g. radiation protection certification, radioactive waste advisor, optioneering / optimisation training.
Experience within the legal and regulatory context of one or more national jurisdictions, preferably Poland.
Detailed knowledge of governmental authorities in Poland and other national jurisdictions, including experience in provision of expert advice at a mid to senior level.
Experience post-graduation in radioactive waste management or related environmental disciplines.
Experience of working within an EPC or equivalent environment.
Experience of managing and informing technical activities and stakeholder relations within multiple phases of a complex nuclear new build delivery environment.
Demonstrable experience of identifying and managing interdependency between waste and environmental considerations and other technical and non-technical areas such as engineering design, nuclear safety and regulatory submissions.
