Amentum is seeking a Fire & Emergency Services Lieutenant to support the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) Mission on Andros Island, Bahamas. AUTEC is a Major Range and Test Facility Base (MRTFB) and the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport's largest single team project, providing both deep and shallow water test and training environments. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

The purpose is to serve as a Lead Firefighter responsible for a major piece of firefighting equipment and its regularly assigned crew of firefighters engaged in structural firefighting, various rescue operations, and the reduction and/or elimination of potential fire hazards.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Exercises caution to avoid damage/loss of property including injury to self and others. Ensures safe/prompt arrival of assigned personnel, vehicles, & equipment at emergencies.

  • Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.  Promptly and accurately reports unsafe conditions or injuries sustained while on duty to the appropriate supervisor.

  •  Directs a company of Firefighters performing structural fire suppression, airport rescue and firefighting, emergency first aid, Hazardous Materials (HazMat) response and natural cover firefighting.

  • Leads and directs Firefighters at various rescue operations involving structures, aircraft, automotive vehicles, confined spaces, and special rescue situations.

  • When first to arrive at the scene, establishes Incident Command and takes charge of all firefighting or emergency response activities until relieved by a more senior Firefighter.

  • Identifies, protects and reports evidence indicating cause of fire, especially during salvage and overhaul operations.

  • Becomes fully trained and certified to drive and operate all assigned fire apparatus, support vehicles and tools/equipment when directed.

  • Performs inspections, functional tests, and preventive maintenance for assigned firefighting equipment and performs housekeeping duties associated with assigned facilities. Leads work groups in performance of fire hose testing, fire apparatus pump testing, testing and maintenance of specialized equipment, operator level care of vehicles and equipment.

  • Renders BLS/ALS emergency medical treatment as trained and qualified.

  • Directs and participates in practice drills and training classes for assigned crew in all phases of firefighting techniques and equipment maintenance and use.

  • Prepares reports concerning fire runs, training, maintenance, inspections, or other topics using automated computer programs and other methods as directed.

  • Performs duties in other Fire Department job classifications when required, providing that all necessary certification/licensing requirements of the job classification assignment are maintained.

  • Performs pre-fire planning by physically going through structures to become familiar with the layout, fire hazards, and location of fixed fire protection systems and creates or maintains written pre-fire plan forms. 

  • Ensures duties are performed in accordance with the Performance Work Statement and applicable directives including but not limited to Department of War (DoW) and Navy Instructions, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standards, and Company policies and procedures.  

  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements

Employee must possess four years of progressive experience as a full-time Firefighter with a regular professional paid firefighting force or equivalent experience. To qualify, selectee must:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

  • Possess all certifications, to include prerequisite certifications, which are required for Firefighter Crew Chief in accordance with the DoW Instruction 6055.06M, DoD Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) Certification Program (Fire Officer I, Fire Instructor I, Fire Inspector I, Firefighter II, Airport Fire Fighter or higher.

  • Be trained and qualified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and must maintain current state or national Basic Life Support emergency medical care certification or higher.

  • Have no physical defects or grooming habits which would impede ability to wear protective clothing and equipment, climb ladders, and perform other strenuous tasks under adverse conditions.

  • Submit to and pass (prior to assignment of duty) an initial and annual physical examination which conforms to NFPA 1582, Standard on Comprehensive Occupational Medical Program for Fire Departments.       

  • Participate in mandatory physical fitness program.

  • Possess a valid state driver’s license and be capable of driving and operating all assigned fire suppression and support vehicles.

  • Possess capability to attend and successfully complete on- and off-site training courses and any certification required by the Navy and company.

  •  Possess the ability to provide leadership and integrate actions of a crew during emergencies, thorough knowledge of HazMat containment and control, practical knowledge of fire protection hydraulics principles, and the knowledge to drive and operate firefighting vehicles of significant complexity.

  • Must obtain and maintain a secret security clearance at all times; must obtain and maintain access to the AUTEC local area computer network.

  • Participate in recurring proficiency training program and conduct training classes and evolutions as directed by supervision.

  • Candidates must possess requisite certifications from either the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or the National Professional Qualification System (ProBoard) prior to selection for hire. The requirement to possess Airport Fire Fighter certification is contingent upon the presence of an aircraft fire fighting mission.

  •  Must be able to reside in remote location with limited medical facilities.

  • A valid US Passport and driver's license is required.

       

Compensation Details:

$20.00
