Heavy Equipment Operator (Crane)

Amentum is seeking a Crane Operator to join our team on Andros Island, Bahamas to support the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) mission. This position is reserved for Bahamian Citizens only. 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Operates Navy category type 1 and 4 mobile cranes ranging in size of 20 ton to 135 ton

  • Operate other heavy construction equipment as needed

  • Interprets load charts and plans all lifts for material, range user and government equipment being moved.

  • Anticipate, preplan, coordinate and complete all crane work in an efficient manner of operational requirements.

  • Perform routine operator maintenance and housekeeping activities such as ensuring work areas are clean and equipment storage is completed in an efficient manner to ensure personnel safety.

  • Obtain and keep current all certifications and licenses for crane and heavy equipment.

  • Performs set up and crane operations according to NAVFAC P307 guidelines.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a citizen of the Bahamas.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Must obtain NCCCO certification within 12 Months

  • At least 4 years heavy equipment operation to include forklifts, loaders, IT’s telehandlers, backhoes and semi tractors.

  • Experience with routine mobile crane operation

  • Successfully satisfy all applicable international regulatory body and operator certification and/or Navy license/document requirements.

  • Knowledge of NAVFAC P307 preferred.

  • Valid CDL Class A Driver’s License (must include Haz-Mat Endorsement)

  • Must be able to carry objects up to 75 pounds

  • Able to work in non-climate controlled conditions

  • Work extended hours as required

  • Travel to remote sites, as needed

  • Normal work schedule is 0730 to 1630, Monday through Friday

  • May be required to work weekends and holidays to support various test schedules

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Mobility on sand and rough terrain to supervise activities

  • Experience and certification on 60,000 pound stinger preferred.
