The Opportunity  

Amentum is the Design and Engineering partner for Sellafield under the PPP (Programme and Project Partners). This is a 20-year arrangement to deliver ~£7bn of major projects. We are looking to recruit high value expertise from across regulated and comparable sectors to work in a collaborative environment. PPP is delivering major projects, site wide improvements and provision of supporting services. 

The Project 

The Sellafield Product & Residue Store (SPRS) Retreatment Plant (SRP) Project will provide a facility that receives Special Nuclear Material (SNM) from existing stores across the Sellafield site and processes it into a form suitable for safe and secure storage until 2120. 

The Role  

To support the delivery of the SRP Project, we are seeking a Process Engineer who will report to Process Discipline Lead Engineer and support the Area Lead Process Engineer who will provide you with support and guidance in the role. 

You will work within a multi-discipline team to deliver the process design which typically includes key process engineering activities such as calculations, simulations and reports, process safety assessments, and participation in HAZOPs and design reviews.

As a Process Engineer you will be expected to:

  • Carry out engineering calculations to deliver a quality functional input to projects. 
  • Ensure that work complies with all necessary corporate, departmental and legislative requirements and procedures, to guarantee that the necessary consistency and quality of delivery is maintained.
  • Develop own engineering experience and skills, moving towards the capability to move to a more senior role and towards professional qualification. 
  • Production of process deliverables (Engineering Flow Diagrams, Process Descriptions, Datasheets, Calculations, Line Lists etc.). 
  • Production and checking of Nuclear and Conventional Process safety deliverables (Design Justification Reports, DSEAR Risk Assessments, Chemotoxic Risk Assessments, etc.)
  • Support to procurement, manufacture, testing and commissioning of Process equipment

As a Process Engineer you will already have:

  • Degree qualified in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years in Process Engineering or related role 
  • Knowledge of process design of solid powder handling systems is beneficial. 
  • Adaptable Process Engineering experience, and ability to use transferable skills across a wide range of projects and industries, supported by our experienced multi-discipline engineering team. 
  • A good knowledge of Process Design Health, Safety and Environmental (DHSE) issues and knowledge of key regulations (e.g. DSEAR, CDM, COMAH) is preferable, but not essential.
  • A pro-active, self-starter, with excellent collaborative, innovative, problem-solving and communication skills.
