Role Title: Project Accountant

Role Description: The Project Accountant provides technical accounting support throughout the full project lifecycle and works closely with operations and finance teams to ensure accurate financial management, reporting, and compliance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end project setup, maintenance, and closure, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain rolling forecasts, proactively incorporating risks, scope changes, variations, and project progress.
  • Oversee project cost tracking, ensuring alignment with approved budgets and timely identification of variances.
  • Prepare and submit client invoices accurately and on time in accordance with contractual terms.
  • Ensure accurate revenue recognition in line with US GAAP and company accounting policies.
  • Support the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Prepare month-end financial reports and deliver in-depth analysis on project performance, risks, and trends.
  • Monitor and manage project balances and key metrics, including Accounts Receivable, Work in Progress (WIP), Deferred Revenue, and Days Sales Outstanding (DSO).
  • Develop and maintain project dashboards and KPIs to provide clear visibility into financial health and performance.
  • Act as a key finance partner to the project team, providing ongoing guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Liaise effectively with cross-functional teams, clients, and external vendors to resolve financial and operational matters.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, US GAAP, statutory requirements, and SOX controls.
  • Support internal and external audits, including documentation, analysis, and issue resolution.

Experience / Preferred Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a finance role, with strong preference for project‑based environments
  • Demonstrated expertise in project accounting, including cost tracking, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Advanced technical proficiency in financial systems and Microsoft Excel, with hands‑on experience using macros, Power Automate, Power Query, and Power BI
  • Exposure to sustainability accounting and/or joint venture invoicing is advantageous but not essential
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to manage and influence diverse stakeholders
