About the opportunity
Amentum is leading a joint venture (JV) delivering a Framework Contract for the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC), providing intellectual support services to the nuclear decommissioning programme across multiple European sites.
The JV supports JRC in accelerating decommissioning and waste management activities through provision of technical and programme support services, including:
Project and programme management
Licensing
Radioactive waste management
Radiation protection
Decommissioning and nuclear engineering
Worksite management and safety
Non-nuclear engineering
Facility supervision and quality assurance
Role overview
The role supports the establishment, implementation and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS) across a complex, multi-stakeholder nuclear decommissioning environment.
The position combines quality assurance, audit, governance, and project quality support, with increasing responsibility for leadership, oversight and coordination of quality activities across projects and supply chain.
Key responsibilities
Quality Management & Assurance
- Support/lead implementation and maintenance of the QMS aligned with ISO 9001
- Integrate client, JV and project-specific quality requirements
- Develop and apply o Framework Contract Quality Plan and project quality plans
- Provide QA oversight across project lifecycle
Project & Programme Quality Support
- Monitor compliance and verify deliverables
- Ensure traceability and document control
- Identify quality risks and mitigation actions
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams
Audit, Inspection & Compliance
- Support/lead audits (internal/external)
- Coordinate non-conformance responses and addressing corrective actions
- Support certification body and regulatory audits
- Conduct supply chain audits
Document & Information Control
- Manage and review project documentation
- Ensure compliance with client document requirements
Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor KPIs and non-conformances
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives
Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate with JRC, JV partners and subcontractors
- Provide quality guidance across teams
Leadership (senior candidates)
- Provide QA leadership across projects
- Mentor junior staff and support QA resourcing
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
Degree in engineering, quality or related field
Experience in quality management in regulated environments, ability to cover engineering, supply chain and construction industries aspects
Knowledge of ISO 9001 and auditing principles
Experience in audits, document control and QA processes, including appropriate qualifications as lead auditor
6–10+ years’ experience depending on level
Strong English skills e.g. able to understand technical documents, conduct meetings and calls in English. Some Italian language skills or willingness to learn.
Ability to work on-site in Ispra
Desirable
Nuclear or highly regulated industry experience
Experience in EPC or complex project environments
Supply chain QA experience
Environmental / H&S systems knowledge
Italian language skills
