Amentum is a Lot 1 delivery partner within the Decommissioning and Nuclear Waste Partners (DNWP) Framework, a major Sellafield programme worth up to £4.6 billion and running for up to 15 years. The framework is focused on safely accelerating decommissioning, remediation and high‑hazard risk reduction across one of the most complex nuclear sites in the world.

Our nuclear team supports the front‑end design, engineering, technical leadership and delivery expertise required across the DNWP portfolio. We are looking for individuals with high‑value expertise from across regulated and comparable sectors to who can work collaboratively, embrace new challenges and contribute to the mission of safely and efficiently delivering Sellafield’s decommissioning and nuclear waste objectives.

About the Opportunity

The Security and Business Support Manager role provides senior operational and security leadership for Amentum in support of Sellafield Ltd, overseeing administrative, facilities, and security activities to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of services on site.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the role manages teams, resources, and suppliers while acting as the single point of accountability for security governance, assurance, and incident management in line with Sellafield, CNS, and NISR requirements, working closely with client stakeholders and regulators to maintain strong operational alignment and a robust security culture.

Employee will be expected to contribute to the delivery of social value in line with the DNWP framework, supporting positive outcomes for local communities. Voluntary engagement is supported, with up to 16 hours per full‑time equivalent allocated.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead day-to-day administrative operations across teams, ensuring efficient delivery and continuous improvement of processes and workflows.

  • Develop, maintain, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and governance controls.

  • Manage administrative team performance, including recruitment, onboarding, development, and regular check-ins.

  • Act as an escalation point for operational, administrative, and security-related issues.

  • Oversee office and facilities management, including workspace planning, resources, maintenance, and health & safety compliance.

  • Control budgets, procurement, supplier relationships, and contract administration, ensuring cost efficiency and compliance.

  • Approve financial transactions (invoices, POs, expenses) and support reporting, forecasting, and audit requirements.

  • Maintain accurate records, data protection compliance (e.g., GDPR), and document retention standards.

  • Prepare and deliver reports, briefings, and presentations to support decision-making.

  • Develop and implement the Security Management Plan in line with regulatory, Sellafield Ltd, and Nuclear Industry standards (e.g., NISR 2003, CNS requirements).

  • Ensure compliance with physical, personnel, and information security requirements, including access control, surveillance, and classification protocols.

  • Manage security governance, risk registers, and assurance processes, including audit and inspection readiness.

  • Oversee personnel security, including vetting, clearances, and ongoing compliance for staff and contractors.

  • Ensure secure handling, storage, transfer, and destruction of sensitive and classified information.

  • Lead incident response, investigations, and corrective actions for security breaches or risks.

  • Coordinate with internal teams, Sellafield Security, CNC, and external stakeholders on all security matters.

  • Ensure subcontractor and supplier compliance with security requirements and standards.

  • Deliver security training, briefings, and culture initiatives to maintain awareness and compliance.

  • Drive continuous improvement in operational and security processes, systems, and performance in line with industry best practice.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Having Business Administration Level 3, IT Level 2 and DISA Security Controller qualifications

  • Proven extensive experience in operations, administration, or business support managerial or leadership roles, ideally within highly regulated environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and improve business processes, governance frameworks, and SOPs.

  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience in recruitment, performance management, and team development.

  • Experience supporting audits, compliance activities, and maintaining accurate operational and financial records.

  • In-depth understanding of security management within highly regulated sectors (e.g., nuclear, defence, infrastructure), including familiarity with NISR, CNS, or equivalent standards.

  • Proven experience developing and implementing security management plans, risk assessments, and assurance processes.

  • Knowledge of physical, personnel, and information security principles, including access control, vetting processes, and data protection (e.g., GDPR).

  • Proven ability to manage security incidents, investigations, and corrective actions in line with regulatory requirements.

  • Experience working with external regulators, enforcement bodies, and key stakeholders (e.g., security authorities, law enforcement).

  • Strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex workloads and competing priorities.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience delivering briefings, training, and reports to varied audiences.

  • High level of integrity, discretion, and commitment to maintaining confidentiality and security standards.

  • Proactive approach to continuous improvement, with the ability to embed best practice and drive cultural change.
