About the Opportunity

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will provide support across nuclear decommissioning projects, ensuring robust cost management, contract administration, and commercial governance. The role is critical in supporting safe, compliant, and cost-effective delivery of complex decommissioning programmes.

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you would be responsible for supporting the Principle Commercial Manager(s) and programme leads in delivering the Contract Management Plans and maintaining the relationship with the Client, Contractors/Subcontractors, Suppliers or Service Providers for the relevant contracts. This would include the administration of the contract Risk Register, attending Risk Reduction and other Meetings, managing the Early Warning Notice and Compensation Event processes and CEMAR administration.  All contracts will be managed in accordance with Amentum Management System and procedures for contract management. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance to procedures and Contract Terms and Conditions to secure delivery with certainty.

Key Responsibilities:

  • A high emphasis on subcontract engagement

  • Support cost estimation, budgeting, and forecasting activities across decommissioning projects.

  • Administer contracts (e.g., NEC3/4) including change control, payment applications, and final accounts.

  • Support procurement and tendering processes with accurate cost data and commercial input.

  • Monitor and report on project financial performance, identifying risks and opportunities.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and governance frameworks including NDA and ONR requirements.

  • Engage with project teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure commercial alignment.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement and lessons learned in cost and contract management.

This role will requires 2-3 days a week on site every other week at Sellafield or DNWP Site Office at Ullcoats, Cumbria (tbc.)

Here’s What You’ll Need

  • Degree level qualification in relevant discipline or equivalent experience in commercial /contract management

  • MRICS or recognised equivalent professional membership (consideration will be given if this process has started with a detailed and dedicated plan for completion)

  • Worked within a highly regulated and quality assured system where design and engineering was a major part of the role. 

  • Ability to provide leadership in a key area within an engineering function and act as a custodian of resource and expertise.

  • Commercial experience demonstrating a record of successful delivery, including positions influencing professional engineers in the definition, implementation and delivery of engineering work packages.

  • Ability to provide strategic guidance based on knowledge and experience of projects across a portfolio to inform and direct projects and programmes.

  • Strong knowledge of NEC3 and NEC 4 contracts and public sector procurement regulations.

  • Demonstrable experience in cost management, contract administration, and commercial reporting.

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

  • Must be proficient in MS Office applications – especially MS Excel.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Experience in nuclear decommissioning or high-hazard environments.

  • Familiarity with NDA governance and funding models.

  • Knowledge of sustainability and social value in commercial delivery.

  • Proficiency in cost management tools and digital systems.

  • Experience of using CEMAR
