Role Title: Senior Training Support Officer
Role Description:
Landing Craft Branch in NSSG require the services of a Senior Training Support Officer to support the acquisition of new Army maritime platform capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Training Governance — Maintain compliance with Defence training policies, frameworks, and assurance requirements, ensuring all training artefacts meet mandated standards.
- Training Coordination — Coordinate delivery schedules, instructor allocations, training resources, and facility bookings across multiple training units or sites.
- Learning Management System Administration — Manage course data, enrolments, completions, reporting, and version control within Defence LMS platforms (e.g., Campus, LXP, ADELE, PMKeyS/ERP training modules).
- Performance Needs Analysis Support — Assist in gathering data, stakeholder inputs, and evidence to support PNAs, gap analyses, and capability uplift planning.
- Training Documentation Management — Maintain and update training packages, lesson materials, assessment tools, SOPs, and controlled documents.
- Assessment & Evaluation Support — Support assessment activities, collect evaluation data, and contribute to continuous improvement cycles.
- Stakeholder Engagement — Liaise with Defence Training Authorities, SMEs, command staff (such as AHQ), contractors (such as Austal), and training authorities to ensure smooth delivery and issue resolution.
- Reporting & Analytics — Produce training performance reports, risk logs, attendance summaries, and compliance dashboards for contract and Defence stakeholders.
- Quality Assurance — Conduct checks on training delivery, documentation, and assessment practices to ensure alignment with Defence standards and contract KPIs.
- Resource & Asset Management — Oversee training equipment, consumables, and learning resources, ensuring availability, maintenance, and accountability.
- Risk & Issue Management — Identify, track, and escalate training delivery risks, workforce gaps, and operational constraints.
- Support to Instructors — Provide administrative, logistical, and coordination support to instructors and facilitators to enable effective delivery.
- Contract Performance Support — Contribute to meeting contract KPIs, audit requirements, and performance reporting obligations.
- Continuous Improvement — Recommend improvements to training processes, systems, and workflows based on data and stakeholder feedback.
- Support introduction into service training.
- Review CDRLs as prepared by the shipbuilder to ensure plans and approaches are fit for purpose and align to Defence's requirements.
Skills and Experience:
- SADL Knowledge — Demonstrated understanding of the Systems Approach to Defence Learning, including analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation phases, and how these translate into compliant Defence training products.
- Training Systems Expertise — Experience supporting structured training systems, including training needs analysis, competency frameworks, and controlled document management.
- LMS Administration — Proficiency with Defence learning systems (Campus, LXP, ADELE, PMKeyS training modules), including enrolments, reporting, version control, and audit readiness.
- Training Coordination Skills — Ability to coordinate multi‑site training delivery, instructor scheduling, resource allocation, and facility management in a high‑tempo environment.
- Stakeholder Engagement — Strong communication and relationship‑building skills with Defence personnel, SMEs, instructors, and contract partners.
- Quality Assurance Capability — Experience conducting training QA checks, validating assessment tools, and ensuring compliance with Defence training governance.
- Assessment & Evaluation Support — Ability to support assessment activities, collect evaluation data, and contribute to continuous improvement cycles.
- Documentation & Version Control — Skilled in maintaining lesson materials, assessment instruments, SOPs, and controlled documents in accordance with Defence standards.
- Data & Reporting Skills — Competence in producing training performance reports, dashboards, risk logs, and compliance summaries.
- Risk & Issue Management — Ability to identify, track, and escalate training delivery risks, workforce gaps, and operational constraints.
- Resource Management — Experience managing training equipment, consumables, and learning resources, ensuring availability and accountability.
