Amentum is seeking a dedicated results-oriented SW Developer to support NSWC Dahlgren H20. 

Software Engineer Responsibilities include:

  • Working with a small Undersea Warfare (USW) SW development team

  • Developing code for Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Fire Control System

  • Meeting weekly with leadership to provide project status

  • Identifying and communicating development concerns to leadership

  • Working onsite at NSWC Dahlgren

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s of Science (BS) degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline and at least Two (2) years of professional experience providing technical support in software requirement analysis, and designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software to include the following:

  • One or more of the following high-level computer languages: C/C++, Java, Ada

  • RedHat operating system, using standard UNIX/Linux tools and utilities 

  • Implementation of track modeling and time algorithms

  • Inter-process communications based on publish/subscribe and client server models using TCP/IP sockets

  • Must have an Active SECRET US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a SECRET Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with design, development, and documentation of surface ship-related computer programs in high-order languages for microprocessor-based through medium scale computer systems environment, including experience with simulation systems, situational awareness systems and simulation systems that integrate with tactical systems.

  • Demonstrated capability to work collaboratively to provide sound design and development work product in conjunction with the efforts of engineering team leaders.

  • Demonstrated capability to utilize Agile-like software development methodology.

  • Demonstrated capability developing software in a multi-threaded/multi-process environment.

  • Experience with Unified Modeling Language (UML) in designing/documenting a software intensive object oriented system.

  • Experience testing software code for multiple hardware configurations.

  • Experience using NetBeans Integrated Development Environment.

  • Experience with Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA).

  • Experience programming hardware drivers and firmware.

  • Experience using one or more of the following: VxWorks, Extensible Markup Language (XML), documenting software systems using HTML, Generic Data Extraction Analysis and Reduction (GeDEAR) framework.
