Hinkley Point C (HPC) is the first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years, HPCs two EPR reactors will be capable of generating 3.26GW of secure, low carbon electricity for 60 years, enough electricity to power around 6 million homes. In addition to the projects ‘clean energy’ benefits, HPC will create thousands of jobs and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.

Amentum is currently looking to recruit an experienced Supplier Development & Inspection Team Manager who will be responsible for the integrated delivery of supplier development, inspection, and surveillance activities across all programmes within the Hinkley Point C (HPC) Project. Key responsibilities will be:

Leadership and Team Management

  • Lead and develop a multi‑disciplinary team comprising SQEP inspectors, supplier development specialists, inspection coordinators, and embedded technical advisors
  • Ensure the team is resourced, competent and capable of delivering risk‑based surveillance programmes aligned to programme milestones and nuclear safety requirements
  • Set clear expectations, delegate effectively, and promote a strong nuclear safety culture, human performance principles and adherence to IC expectations


Surveillance Planning and Delivery

  • Establish, maintain and deploy fully risk‑based surveillance programmes across HPC scopes of work (NI, CI, BOP, NSSS, Turbine)
  • Ensure programmes are marked up in data packages and issued for QML acceptance (complementing QML oversight role)
  • Oversee execution of inspection and surveillance activities, ensuring timely reporting, escalation of emerging issues, and full traceability of surveillance evidence
  • Maintain data systems, reporting dashboards and audit trails to meet ONR and HPC requirements

Supplier Development & Qualification

  • Conduct supplier capability assessments against ISO 19443, ISO 9001, IAEA GS‑R Part 2 and HPC contractual requirements
  • Lead targeted supplier development interventions, particularly on welding, NDT, production controls and other special processes
  • Maintain supplier performance scorecards and drive structured performance improvement
  • Working with Supplier audits (scheduled and for‑cause), ensure adequate interlinks are established, maximising opportunities to drive high‑quality reports, and track targeted  non‑conformance closure to completion and effectiveness


Intelligent Customer Role & Compliance

  • Ensure all surveillance and supplier development activities comply with ISO 19443, IAEA GS‑R Part 2, ISO 9001, nuclear site licence conditions, and Intelligent Customer (IC) expectations.
  • Provide proportionate and risk‑informed oversight of third‑party inspection bodies (to be used for inspection and development services).
  • Act as a key contributor to IC governance, ensuring that HPC maintains credible oversight of supplier activities.

Education, Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience in nuclear or high‑hazard industries with direct responsibility for manufacturing quality, inspection or supplier development
  • Deep knowledge of ISO 19443, ISO 9001, IAEA GS‑R Part 2 and nuclear licence compliance expectations
  • Demonstrable awareness in welding, NDT, manufacturing process control and supplier assessment
  • Strong track record of leading SQEP technical teams in complex project environments
  • Experience interfacing with regulators, ITAs, inspection bodies and senior project leadership
  • Strong communication, analytical and problem‑solving skills
