Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Technical Librarian (Facilities) to support a unique US Navy program based on the island of Diego Garcia.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a centralized technical library supporting facilities and infrastructure operations, ensuring that all documents, blueprints, manuals, and drawings are current and accurately cataloged.
  • Catalogue, maintain, and issue technical documentation, including engineering drawings, equipment manuals, maintenance manuals, and manufacturer data.
  • Ensure compliance with all library management standards by adhering to proper indexing, filing, storage, and version control protocols.
  • Provide technical documentation and references in response to requests from engineering, maintenance, and operational personnel.
  • Perform regular audits and updates of technical materials, ensuring all documents meet operational, organizational, and Navy standards.
  • Implement and maintain document control processes to ensure proper authorization and updated distribution of technical data.
  • Support electronic document management systems (EDMS) for storing and disseminating technical information.
  • Develop and maintain procedures for library workflows, including document retention, storage standards, setup of archives, and security of controlled materials.
  • Train staff and contractors on proper use of the technical library, including locating materials and accessing electronic resources for operational needs.
  • Stay current on industry best practices and technologies for managing technical libraries and propose improvements as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 1–3 years of relevant experience managing technical libraries, document control, or equivalent roles within facilities management, engineering, or related industries.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with technical documents such as engineering drawings, operating manuals, and maintenance records.
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for the duration of deployment.
  • Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
  • Passport should be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce is preferred.
  • Valid country driver's license and passport.
  • Country visa (as required in line with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide).
  • Experience in library management software or electronic document management systems (EDMS).
  • Knowledge of Navy document control requirements, including military standards for technical manuals and plans.
  • Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills, with experience in maintaining version control and document security.
  • Associate’s degree or higher preferred, especially in library science, information systems, or similar fields relevant to document or technical management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to train and assist personnel in technical resource utilization.
